I think of the various sporter weight .22’s (especially lever actions) that the Model 39 is one of the most accurate and definitely most fun rimfire rifles one could own.

Very accurate. My most accurate .22.
2nd most accurate is my Savage MK II BV with a bull barrel.
Savage is very accurate also, but the 39D’s groups are a little tighter and more consistent.

I second Fenton, I have one presently and it’s stamping is as he said. My recollection of the 39 is the rarest is the carbine, do not know if it had a letter designation or not, as I recall it was very close to the later m designation though May had a 3/4 magazine tube rather than barrel length , though I am not sure since I have never seen one

The Marlin Mountie is my favorite rifle.

I have one that I have used for years and has taken literally thousands of ground squirrels and jackrabbits.

I drove over to Montana and picked up another years ago. This was in anticipation of my oldest girl turning 18. She was/is a shooter and lover her single action pistols and always liked my lever action Marlin. So I found her one. This one was a 1950s era Mountie that spent its life on a ranch. Very well used. much of the bluing is worn down, but still nicely cared for. Just a proper classic Western ranch type rifle.

Here she is with it last month, when she and I went out shooting:

I put a 4x Japanese Weaver on it, and she is flat deadly with that thing.

The Tikka T3 in .308 Winchester is the Glock 19 of the rifle world.
