The handle is turned from Brazilian rosewood and buffed to a high satin luster without any finish of any kind. The wood has a wonderful vanilla bean smell that will stay virtually forever. While using it the smell will pop up each time and take you back to your favorite memory of vanilla. It is why I use no finish on this particular wood.
The handle is 5 1/8" long and about 7/8" in diameter, 7 1/8" is the total length including a .357" diameter brass brush. The handle is threaded and the brush is replaceable.
The tail is shaped for use in burnishing thread heads on large flies and also for rod wrappings. Using a burnisher to move your threads around reduces the oils transfered from your hands to the thread. Particularly important with silk thread and disappearing wrappings.
thanks for looking!
