Re: 280 Remington, 120 gr bullets, and H4350
Gaschekt
I'll admit that although this 120 BT load shoots good, and should be plenty flat shooting to 400 yds or so, I'm more familiar and comfortable with the 154gr interlock spire points and I recently loaded up two boxes of those. I've not yet taken any game with the 120s. I may pull out a box of old computer paper and do a bullet test on them. Running 3180 fps is awfully fast, and a cc of mediocre construction may not handle it. These newer ballistic tips appear to be better made.
I also really like the 154gr interlocks at 2900fps. They may not shoot as flat as the 120s to 400 yds, i also don't shoot at anything nearly that far.

Had a buddy send me that same one. Tempting but I accidentally bought a cooper 204 left hand this last weekend so unfortunately funds are now slim....

I would smoke or color with a marker the cases that stick in your gauge, drop them in the gauge again to see what's the "hold up" if they haven't all been fired already.

Re: first time "hunt of a life time" elk hunt
Brad
At $26,000 for a 300" elk, it better be a hell of a horse back trip. Folks have lost their damn minds........... Evidently you're one of the many "hunters" who believes B&C score is more important than the total experience.... If I'm wrong, please explain why. "The total experience"... this in a nutshell John. I'd rather shoot a 300" six point in Northern BC wilderness than a 360" bull on some ranch hunt. Some know the price of everything and the value of nothing...

Re: Ruger and MIM parts
MOGC
Given a choice, I wouldn't choose MIM over forged heat-treated steel. Generally, I guess MIM failure rates are very low but I personally have had an MIM part fail. The magazine catch on a Kimber 1911 crumbled into dust in my hand while firing the gun. That dumped the magazine out of the gun and of course with no mag catch that is an awkward single-shot pistol afterward. Thankfully that didn't happen at a critical time. I replaced that Kimber MIM mag catch with an Ed Brown forged steel part.

Anybody seen or heard from Luv2safari (Bruce)?
Last seen 11/15 according to the site stats.
Seems like I've seen him post, but sometimes a post made will stay in place for longer than you'd think He is all well and good. He was very put off by some of the mean spirited comments people made when his bird dog went over a cliff and died. Probably busy working that new pup, gotta get it in good shape to survive the fall this hunting session so he can listen to it die too. Guy is either full of shìt or a pathetic aŝşhole.

Re: Turnbull 50-110

Very similar to mine. I did a receiver sight, a mercury cylinder in the buttstock, added an S-hook to the action, and different cosmetics. I've been messing with fairly similar load options - 535gr A-frames with the tips tapped on a sander down to about 520, and the 510gr Cutting Edge safari solid. Starline .50-110 cases for the solids, and .50AK cases for the softs. AR-COMP or H4895 for the powder. Did your 400gr cutting edge solid exit the buffalo? If so I might switch to that rather than the 510gr. Could you explain the "S Hook" ,added to the action ? Thanks.

Don't forget the beaver award guy from Oregon. After the 2022 Awards Beav knew he had reached the pinnacle here on the 24hr Campfire. He retired at the top of the game but who knows he might show up from time to time to relive old glories. And now for the award for ‘The Smartest Man on Fire’
And the winner is Mr. John Burns. Congratulations to you buddy, you read the science and knew you’d clean house with award wins. You Rock!
This will bring us to a close of the 2022 Beaver Awards. This might be our last year, so we all hope you enjoyed yourselves and your winners for 2022.
-Beav Out! Blow it out ur fat fuqkin ass Daddy never paid attention to you as a kid, did he. Im guessin he had an uncle that paid too much attention to him as a kid lmao This is why we can't have nice members. Even Award winning Wizards are vicously attacked by the dancing monkeys. What chance does a nice guy without Awards have here on the Campfire The amount of pitiful and pathetic swinging dongs on this site is astounding

My last Kaywoodie acquisition. A 13b "Author". (1950-1972). Was at the local junkatoriom where ranch boss has a booth. A whopping $12 with the stand! It was one of the firms most popular models. This is when I miss ol Field Grade!!! He was a Kaywoodie aficionado!!!! He had quite the collection.

Re: H&R Handi 30-30 range day
Ranger99
All the Handi's I've had shoot as good as any other anything I've had. This last 30/30 has been difficult, but not because of inaccuracy, but FTF's and such. It's a Remlin, and I've had it at a Remington "service center" twice before they folded up, and they were as incompetent as the Ilion people. I finally tore it apart myself and inspected and gave it a Wolff spring. I tried it with some primed empties and they all popped, but haven't been near a range since. The barrel is accurate enough. I shot it some on my 444 receiver and it does just fine. Any of the Handi 30/30's I've had were accurate
Good Luck
