Al,
My Hawkeye is the super-slim model. One disadvantage is that it only allows a look straight down .17 bores, not a close-up of the bore's surface, as the right-angle slip-over rod does in larger bores.
It's actually my second Hawkeye. Bought the first over 20 years ago from Brownells, but a few years ago the folks at Gradient offered to trade me one of their upgraded models, which is noticeably brighter and sharper than the older one.

Been hunting the Missouri Ozarks for the past 32 years, now have to get up at 2am just to beat all the hunters from Arkansas. Never had a problem with other hunters unlit the last 4-5 years. Even if you are parked and walk a mile on an old road, the Arkansawyers will drive past your vehicle. Times have changed.

Can't cash-in my change jar anywhere in town...even with an acct, local banks won't count your change anymore, Walmart used to count change, but now, like every other retail store, they have those change counting machines that charge you 10-12 percent to count it. G.D. thieves, I tell ya.

It’s Baltimore. What are the odds that the pilot was some union/DEI hire who usually slept through the transit? Once again, I know nothing about ships or bridges. Very low odds. Pilot associations are known for nepotism and chronyism. They are nigh impossible for an outsider to crack and generally beyond outside influence. There were TWO pilots on board, the fact (again) it went dark before ramming the bridge, certainly points to loss of way and steerage with no way of stopping a ship that large. I read that the first time you posted it. I wanted to fill in some blanks for him since he said he knew nothing about it. Oddly, I answered the question he asked. LOL

That would be a shame, because nickels are actually worth more than $.10 based upon the nickel and copper content. It’s the last currency that has not been debased. Save your nickels. Better to use post-82 pennies or post-65 dimes or quarters. When the SHTF, I doubt that nickels will get you much, but you could drill a little hole near the edge and make a pretty good fishing sinker with one. Who’s talking about SHTF???? I already have enough split shot and other fishing sinkers to use. If you don’t have anything to say about debased coins vs. our current nickel STFU

Saw a little coverage tonight of their capture. A rather brutal deal, and I don't think there was any concern for the Miranda issue. I read that they cut one guy's ear off and made him eat it. Musta done that before they read him his rights. Then two of them had their peckers lit up with electricity. Saw videos of both events. According to MacGregor they were Chechen Spetznaz who did the deeds and the Russians weren't happy about it. MAGA! lol. It’s weird that Chechens helped capture the Tajik terrorists and were given medals from Russia. There are tens of thousands of Chechen’s fighting in Ukraine for Russia the past two years Hillary Clinton while Secretary of State admitted that the CIA was funding ISIS in Chechnya and other central Asian states to help over throw their regimes

You're a better man than I if you can remember every phone number from every person you know. No one is saying they do. What we are saying is don’t answer if it’s not a known number in your contact list. If you haven’t saved that number to your phone, let it go to voice mail. If it’s legit they’ll leave a voice mail and you can add them as a contact if you want. Just answering every time it rings is madness. No VM set up here. If it's important they will call back.

Wipe-Out works well, but there are others that work even quicker.
Always interesting to hear what's "best" on these threads, by people who've used a handful of cleaners. John, I'm a Wipe-Out fan, but always wanting to learn. What are the ones that are quicker, and are any of them as "gentle" as wipe-out, or are there any extra precautions that need to be taken with the faster products? Thanks in advance, Rex If I want to get the copper out of a typical barrel quickly I generally use Montana X-Treme Copper Killer. Like regular Montana X-Treme, it's oil-based so can be left in the bore indefinitely with any extra precautions, but works far quicker. In fact, when working on one of the 20-25 handloads for a specific cartridge articles I used to do for Handloader, I'd often swab the bore of the test rifle with Copper Killer just before putting together a batch of test-loads, which might take 45 minutes to an hour. By the time the loads were assembled the barrel was copper-free. In general the regular Montana X-Treme works about as quickly as either the foaming or liquid Wipe-Out. Leaving any of them in overnight usually gets most "regular" copper-fouling out.

Just that. She will always be one of my favorite vocalists. With “ Your no Good” being no1. Probably the most successful female in those times. Boomers that haven't quite caught on yet, this right here, we call this a clue. Ironically, Clint's dog was named Boomer. He was a huge black standard poodle.

Don't tugs escort ships past obstacles? Ships are not required to have tugboat escorts when passing under the Francis Scott Key Bridge so they have limited ability to slow down on their own when they lose power and can not put the propeller into reverse. According to past photos, she is equipped with a bow thruster. However, these are not typically connected to emergency power systems. Even if it were engaged, bow thrusters are designed for slow-speed maneuvers and have a limited ability to push the bow into the wind when the ship’s speed exceeds 5 knots.

Funny thing about the Putin Pufters, they dont' put much effort into moving to Orc Land. Funny thing about the Garlenski Garglers, they don’t put much effort into going over and defending the Ukes. Meanwhile, I have a buddy who decided that fighting for the Ukraine was the right thing to do and just lost most of his foot for his beliefs. How close to the front have you made it? I’ll remain content to watch both sides kill each other for the foreseeable future. Less enemies on both fronts when it’s finally over. John Burns admitted the few years he served in the AF as a gas station attendant he never even touched a firearm and now he’s so obese that he can’t tie his own shoes. Lol

Re: Old Pete during Pickets Charge

I heard of premature detonations, but never heard it as a recurring problem. I know the lead bands on the end of a parrot shell were often shed at the muzzle and killed friendlies posted in front of the guns. Parrots were forbidden to fire over head of friendly troops for this reason. The paper machete on a Shenkle wasn’t a problem. It was too light to have any force. The Shenkle worked very well from the 3” Rifle, or Rodman but the rifling in a parrot worked much better with the lead band . Cole says that even though they shared bore size, union gunners were to use parrot shells in Partot guns, and Shenkle in the 3” Rifle. I recall he said ther was a battery just south of the copse of trees that were pulled out for lack of ammunition just prior to Pickets advance. Afterward, it was found that the battery had dumped its shell behind a stone wall to justify withdrawing!😀 I don’t recall what battery, but there are many more stories of heroic defense of positions by batteries! Stuart’s Battery A, 4th US made a heroic stand at the railroad cut in 1 July. They never got the word to retreat. The defense of Sickel’s position on day two was full of such instances, and I believe everyone has heard of Cushing running his guns right up to the stone wall at The Angle.

Amazing how many ABs were posted.
I've seen 2 too many inconsistencies with them.
One was a WT buck neck shot. Broadside shot. 165gr AB broadside from a 308win at 20 yards. What's that...6-8" of flesh and bone? Failed to exit. Huh. Weird.
Same gun...same load. Coyote quartering to me 30yds away. Put the cross hairs on his front left shoulder. Pow. Falls and rolls around. Quickly gains his feet. Can't get a follow up due to being sky lined. Surely he's going to fall over. I watched him run for 250-300 yards in disbelief. Saw where he entered the woods and there was a sparse trail that quickly dried up. Fast forward a week and a half later....I shot the buck from the first story so I didn't have a rifle. I was pushing for some buddies. A coyote is sneaking down a trail right to me. It's acting weird. It was limping like one of its front legs was stiff. It gets within 25yds of me and I see a baseball sized hole on the front left shoulder. 99% sure it was the coyote I shot. Only possible explanation is the bullet exploded or failed to penetrate. Several inches in all directions put the bullet in the body cavity and would have been fatal. Makes absolutely no sense.
Shot another buck with that load and it did great.
I've pretty much wrote them off now. Actually trending towards all coppers. Really like what I'm seeing from TTSX and have some Hammers to test. A buddy shot a big buck in the neck with a 140 grain X bullet in the late 90s, 7mm STW. The bullet was laying in amongst a broken vertebrae. They do weird things at times.

I haven't looked close at one of those in a while. Unless I'm remembering wrong, I was thinking that at one time the wheels were hollow and sealed up to function as sort of integral on-board gasoline storage. Am I remembering correctly or not ?
Wouldn't mind having one, but they've always been scarce when I had extra money, and expensive when I didn't have it to spend
I've rode dirt bikes and 3 wheelers and 4 wheelers and dune buggies and jeeps of many configurations and been hurt bad by a few. Been in a couple of cobbled up contraptions like the Arch Hall "Eegah" buggy Yes the wheels could carry extra Gasoline- although that always seemed a bit sketchy to me- but what do i know.

I agree on all but one.
I look at folks who I know are in a similar or less situation to us regarding income.
The have gorgeous homes, new cars, motorcycles, SxS, boat, take real nice vacations...
Obviously all on payments.
But I still try to figure how this works over 30 years?
I know our mortgage payment bled a lot of our money. One big car payment would have forced us to "manage" our money closely. So how do they make it work?
What are we doing wrong?
My wife's take, and she is right in many cases, is that it's running on Mommy's money.
I've dumbfounded by the number of 40+ year old people whose parents continually feed them money. Buy cars, toys, pay for the grandkids activities... It’s the tapped out lifestyle. Every penny they will make for years to come is already spent. All that’s left is the payments. Funny thing is, more money doesn’t fix the problem. I’ve had employees that did very well and I gave them raises or good sized bonuses, and it made absolutely no difference in their life. They were as broke at $40K as they were at $30K, back when that was great money around here.
