I watched The Rifleman the other day, guest star was Sammy Davis Jr. He displayed some of his fast draw skills.
yep i saw that one a few years ago. I made the show more interesting because i knew he was a big Colt S.A.A collector .I think he did the fast draw contest back in the early 60's also. but i could remember wrong onn that one
Reminds of a book I read about an escaped elephant in Erwin, TN around the turn of the century. It trampled the town drunk so they decided they had to kill it. They hung it from a logging train car.
WTF!? How did the elephant get drunk?
It wasn’t drunk, it trampled its handler that was known to be the local town drunk.
For cleaning out Hog populations, I would go with the 6.5 PRC. Light recoil and decent ballistics. This is assuming the gun shoots well enough to kill at that distance (760 yards). How does it group at 800 yards in good conditions? If you are going to be shooting off of at that portable shooting rest in the picture, how good can you group with it at 700-800 yards in good conditions? Factory ammo or reloading? What bullet are you considering? If it shoots well in your rifle, the 147 ELD-M would be a consideration
He will get that for it if he puts it out there. The money is not that crazy when you consider a new one is $100k. This one will last many, many years.
What became of our member that met some lovely lady down in Latin America and was convinced she was in love with him?
I don't remember all the particulars but she found him wandering around and offered to guide him and he fell in love. He was obviously being taken for a bunch of money.
Should have left well enough alone…and left it Gun Dog. It had a definite exact description for a forum for hunting Dogs that are shot over in the field or water.
Way I see it, is its a scam by wyoming game and fish. They know that access is the problem and they are gonna get their money for a tag that won't be used or filled. And for the ranches, it's additional profit for cows at 2k a piece. Everybody wins except the person who wants a diy and holding the cow tag.
Here's your tag. Good luck putting it on an animal is Wyo. Game and fish's mentality.
I luckily have access to some private up there. But them elk move. Here one day. Gone the next 3.
As I understand it, the type 8 tags are going to be over the counter tags and unlimited for these certain areas. I think the reduced price Cow tags are about $50 for residents and around $300 for Non Residents.
I got one of those calls a couple of weeks ago. After I told the caller to f#ck off and hung up, I regretted not trying to lure the caller into some sort of retribution. Probably just as well I didn't.
Yep, and you'll have about a 5" high midrange trajectory with 100 yard zero - enough to miss a raccoon at 50 yards and listen to the bullet ricochet off through the saddle shed.
Truth be known I haven't even looked at the trajectory chart for the subsonic 300BLK.
Might not hurt to do that!
I don't really bother with the subsonic centerfires.
I can get the same quietness out of my .22lr M&P22 shooting suppressed if needed, or a .357 cal integrally suppressed airgun, although I don't mess with airguns much anymore either...
For hogs and stuff I use full power .308's out of an AR 10 that has sound mitigation too. It works for coons on a slow night.
That .308 leaves a nice spray pattern!
Or the .22lr when you don't want to shoot 3 miles... (I love that little M&P22!)

Going to see steve morse and the dixie dregs tomorrow night! His tone can cure covid
Lot of memories being jarred here. Saw DD at a beer joint in Birmingham several times. Can’t remember the name of the place but they were semi regulars. Not big at all. Sat with a buddy once on the front line maybe 6 feet from the mics. Stood outside having a smoke with them during a break. Electric fiddle guy was memorable. Pretty sure they did a name change a good while back to just Dregs. A couple more vinyls I need to spin.
Still Dixie Dregs, He's gonna do his solo thing Steve Morse band and come back and do DD after that, two shows in one. He recruited Dream Theaters keyboard player for the tour also, guy is phenomenal.
One of the first concerts my dad ever took me to was DD back in Macon in early '90s. I picked up guitar shortly after that.
That Fiddle guy become a anesthesiologist , but I believe he is back on this current tour.
