Re: Any Remington 141 Fans? iskra 03/22/24
Biebs, Its an interesting gun but according to that "C" prefix SN `looks like it was made on the eve of the Great War! So your Model 14, not 141, was from 1914! Looks like quality engraving there but if question of Factory work, way beyond my knowledge. As noted the side-mount holes are definitely aftermarket. It's an interesting old gun, but as a "collector specimen", I'd say not.

The model 14 was introduced in 1912 and late in 1920 barrel codes were intro'd. There seem to be more than a few in those early twenties without visible codes! Also the ever present problem of guns pushing a century old, plenty of time for barrel swaps, skewing the barrel date code regimen entirely!

My closest Model 14 Sn is in 21 K range, from 1913. It is also my only of sevreral that's not in .35 Rem. Only bought it because so clean and cheap as Gun Show Sunday afternoon "goin home time"! smile My next higher and only other "C" prefix SN is a Carbine in 55 K, .35 Rem naturally & MFG 1917.

With the intro of a transitional Model 141 bearing a Model 14 barrel, a new serial range began in latter 1935 and ran to end of production in early fifties.

Hope 'the facts' help!
Best!
John

Re: St George, UT JohnBurns 03/22/24
St George has a large shooting community as, much like golf, there are a lot of days out of the year where one can shoot guns on the range. IPSC and 3 gun type shooting is the most popular.

Not as much hunting, LR, or shotgun.

There is a large range there that is going through issues due to the growth around the range.

The shooters might be getting squeezed out by the golfers.

Great weather if you don't mind a warm summer.

Re: Ukraine’s “Counter-Offensive” Major Belly Flop Houston_2 03/22/24
Putin, now elected, has turned on his former wealthy supporters and oligarchs who earlier got a pass saying that they need to do their part to help finance the ongoing war in Ukraine and the possible future war with NATO.

This move is inline with China and Turkey refusing payments and receipts from Russia due to wanting to hold on to their access to the US Dollar on the international marketplace.

The same applies to the same imposed EU sanctions such that China and Turkey have access to those financial markets.

The banking sanctions by the USA, the EU and the rest of the G7 nations has been the most effective monetary action against Russia than any previous actions to date.

Re: Kidney Stones. Biebs 03/22/24
I've been "nursing" one for a couple years. CAT scan indicated it's 9...too big to pass on its own. They can's blast it until it leaves the kidney, so I'm just waiting. Every 6 weeks or so I'll get a dull ache in my side, but the worst is the non-stop retching and vomiting. It only lasts a few hours and then I'm fine for the next 5-6 weeks. Like a ticking time bomb.

They'll work just fine for deer. I make some similar cast bullets for a friend who uses them in his .30-30 for deer. They work well

You can try giving boretech a call (see attached link at bottom) and give them your gun specs if they don’t have one that fits your gun they do advertise that they will make you a custom bore guide. Let us know what you find out.

Re: Gpo German precision optics himmelrr 03/22/24
I had a Passion 3-9. It was a nice scope with clear glass. I sold it because it no longer had a rifle to use it on. I would call it pretty equal to any other brand that is made in the Philippines. It is a good medium priced option. I have not used any of their higher end stuff. I don’t like that they are capitalizing on the reputation of German glass but they do not use it.

Odds are it’s calcium oxalate.

If you get a chance to catch one and get it analyzed, you’ll know for sure.
