Re: Desirable Prefix Bugger 04/16/24
I especially like the ones that start with a numeral, not a letter. If I see a 700 with pressed checkering on a rack, I will look at it and fondle it - if the price is right it goes home with me.

I have A, B, C & RR. I like them all actually. (Exceptions though)

I think that when RR came out, Remington used more computer control and were the most consistent/accurate dimensions.

Of the A, B & C are concerned I think the C prefix is the most desirable by some Remington guru’s I know. I’m not sure that I can detect differences.

I like the original Walker trigger the best. Walnut = best, blued finish = best

The least desirable for me are the rifles with the early synthetic stocks and the ones with the j-lock firing pin and the very worst = rifles with the detachable magazines (detachable magazines = yech!)

As a note, it was not uncommon for the very early SR's to have a crescent rifle butt plate vs a shotgun plate that was standard on the later. The SR's are well identified in the log books.

Re: Today's Democrat Party. kwg020 04/16/24
If we don't get a strong president and a strong VP this November, it's either full on revolution or the WEF wins. I see nothing good happening after November 2024 if The WEF and the democRATs win. My signature line says it all. It has for several years now. To the political left, its all about power and control.

Once you consider the lack of purchasing fees, yearly capital gains tax, and advisor fees, I've found it very hard to beat an index fund like S&P 500 or NASDAQ for total realized returns. It's also so easy a caveman could do it. Just open a Fidelity account, choose a fund, and set it up to make equal monthly withdrawals from your checking account. Set it and forget it.

^ that.

Although I do I keep a couple packs of instant coffee at my desk at work, sometimes the misers make a weak batch in the lunchroom and a scoop juices it up to being fitting.

Re: Precious Metals STRSWilson 04/16/24
My largest purchase of SOL was last September at $12.50 so I'm not really sweating the current $135.20. SOL has been up to $200 in March and is expected to hit $300 before the end of the year.

I have a long term investment view on whatever I buy. Yes, I do hold physical gold, but I purchased all of my gold in the late 1990's and early 2000 when it was $280 to $350. Hope it hits $3,000 and I might be tempted to dump it.

If you are into short term gains, crypto is highly volatile and folks can make impressive gains on hourly, daily, weekly trading. The 24 hour price on SOL has been as high as $152.25 and as low as $129.99. If you are holding 10,000 coins then that's a $222,600 swing.

Ole Vogel was 18 at the time. For a kid who was just recently growing and/or watching his buddies do the same, I could see a guy wanting to stretch it.

or, he was honest, and couldnt bear to write 5'8"

Very cool find. I'd reach out to a vogel.
