Last puppy was waiting for her ride in a couple days, so I used her in the meantime to make some video on taking your puppy home for the first time...
After that video, I did a quick series that culminated with a COMPLETE leash training session, from first sight of the leash, to leading at heel.
The next to the last video is a little tedious, but I didn’t want to cut it down any more because I wanted new puppy owners to see the WHOLE process from start to finish.
(I cut a few of the side videos out of it, but it really shows the whole process …WIN!)
They’re on my YouTube page but I’ll post them here.
Expectations…
The Leash’s job…
How to call an untrained puppy…
Here’s the big FIRST leash session!
Beginning to WIN!
Follow-up session, reinforcing what she learned during the breakthrough…
These steps are followed by more reinforcement and flow seamlessly into teaching “Kennel” and sitting her down, walking to the end if a check cord and teaching “Come” and then those flow into incorporating fetching and other more advanced disciplines.
They all springboard off of each other. But they all start with the leash.
I couldn’t show any of the next steps with this puppy because she needed more drilling and she was desperate to bond after these sessions, so I had to just leave her to her new owners. (Un-bonding is one of the hardest things that can happen to a pup.)
I purchased a post 64 model 70 with CRF serial number g181xxx in 25-06. The previous owner replaced the extractor with a left handed extractor for some unknown reason. I purchased this for the action only for a build into a 30-06.
I found a right handed extractor on ebay and purchased it. It fits the bolt but does not have enough pressure against the case to extract reliably. Further research shows that this extractor has 3 separate variations with 1 dash, 2 dashes or 3 dashes on the front of the extractor. The ebay seller stated it fit the 30-06 family and is a 3 dash. During my research i found a photo of a 1 dash on a 30-06 of a similar time frame.
My question is would a 1 dash extractor be the correct fix? I could not find any information on what the dashes mean or what size they are for. If the 3 dash should fit the 30-06 size case then i may need to fix or fit this one differently. There also appears to be extra space between the extractor and bolt face that may be the issue, the extractor isnt keeping the case firm on the bolt face.
Ive read the previous fixes of purchasing a williams extractor but they are no longer available unless someone has one lying around that i could purchase.
Not an 1860, but to answer your question about point of impact changes with a conversion cylinder, I have a Ruger Old Army with fixed sights that shoots POA very nicely with the percussion cylinder and round balls. I bought a conversion cylinder in .45 Colt, and it shoots just over a foot higher than POA at 25 yards with .45 Colt ammunition with 250 grain bullets. It took most of the joy out of having the conversion cylinder for me.
With a .457” round ball weighing just 143 grains, the resulting change in the point of impact when shooting 250 grain .45 Colt bullets should really come as no surprise. The laws of physics just don’t cut you no slack.
Fellows, Is or has anyone used the above NV scope? Were you happy with the scope overall. I'm going to mount one on a Tikka Lite Roughtech .243-8 twist. Strictly for coyote and fox. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Semper Fidelis Soup
This is a superb scope with the best optics found in a rifle scope. It is the 3-12X42 with a standard European crosshair and a ballistic reticle that looks like a TDS reticle on the lower vertical wire. It is a 30mm tube and FFP crosshair. There are just a couple small marks on the tube, otherwise it in nearly mint. A fantastic sope for $1100.00
Dead? LOL No, still one of the best defensive rounds anywhere
Especially in the “high capacity” N Frame 8 shot
Those are pretty cool, particularly the scandium/titanium versions. I wish, however, they didn't only offer it in a snubby. A three or four inch barrel version would be great. Also, I wish they offered it without the Hillary Hole.
Anybody remember the Ken Ballew incident? The BATF's first attempted (?) murder? People remember Waco and Ruby Ridge buy you never seen to hear about Ken Ballew.
