Hey guys. Let's show off some of our winchester rifles. I've got a couple of pre 64 model 70's that I am particualarly proud of and a newhaven that shoots lights out (the darndest thing). I'll post some pics of my rifles and how each one shoots. I'm hoping to use one of them in a week for deer season. Let's start this off with some of my pre 64's:

Std weight model 70 30-06 made in 1951:

I ran across this rifle by word of mouth. I had been looking for one of these in just the right condition and my wifes uncle found it for me. I got it for a song and sold the original stock (with metal butt plate), the original peepsights, vintage redfield scope that came with the rifle and now I am into the rifle as it sits for $140.00 grin
I left the one piece redfield mount on it and kept the cool redfield rings that have the screws on the bottom for a sleek look. I pillar bedded it, freefloated the barrel and made the forend screw non functional (dummy screw) and It shoots like this just incase you were wondering:

This is my most recent pre 64 model 70 purchase. It is a 30-06 fwt and was made in september of 1956. It has been glass bedded in the recoil lug area for right now. It weighs 8 pounds "all up" and is a joy to carry. The pointability is just about perfect for me:

I recently put a leupold vx3 3.5-10x40 on it and it looks like it is going to be a great shooter too, once I work up a good load for it:

I recently shot some nice groups with it using some 180 partitons and H4350 powder.

The newest addition to the family is a rifle I've wanted for the longet time and much thought went into this one. It is an extreme weather model 70 made at the new FN plant in Columbia SC. They are putting out some great products. This extreme weather has a mcmillan compact edge stock, Leupold VX 3 3.5-10x40 with CDS in talley lightweight lows. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite rifles. It weighs a little over 7.5 pounds all up and shows some promise for accuracy. I'll work up some good loads after seasnon:
