That one's exceptional. It looks a lot better to me with the two pins in it.

Sir,

Most of the knives I own I have info on the scales, blade material, model name/number and the approximate hardness on the Rockwell scale (according to the maker).

I acquired these two from VinceM, who in turn got them from Mike Miller. About all I can say is they both appear to be stainless. One has a black Micarta scales which I would guess is linen micarta, yellow liners, and to my eye has a flat grind. The other I would guess is a burl hardwood,no liner, jimping on the spine in front of the scales, and perhaps a shallow hollow grind. Both have stainless pins and tube for attaching a lanyard. I stand to be corrected on all points. Of the two, the wood handeled knife is my favorite.

Perhaps Mike Miller might chime in with details. Then we would know for sure.

Best,

GWB

They are both made from CPM154stainless.
Black micarta is correct and a stabilized hardwood handle. The hardwood came from a friend and he could not identify it. It was hard before we had it stabilized.

The blade are ground on an eighteen inch wooden wheel which was made by Rick Menefee. He wanted to make a different grinder and I liked the semi hollow it gave. I did have to slow it down to make it manageable.

Geedubya,

Just based on the picture, I'd bet that wood was afzelia from the color and the grain pattern. One of my favorite woods for knife scales personally.

Unbelievable!!!!!!

I never win anything.
Hell, I'm lucky to even catch a green light once or twice a year, let alone win a knife.

Thanks Mike and Vince.
And a special thanks to Mrs. Vince.
