Several years ago I had a Canjar trigger installed on my NO.1 22–250
It is in the back corner of my safe and I have not fired it much
Now I find it seems to be plagued with Light primer strikes
The trigger is all that has been modified
Can the trigger be causing the light strikes?

I'm skeptical that the Canjar is the culprit (if the trigger is working fine in unset mode).
When you say light primer strikes, are you saying failures to fire or just "light stikes"? FTF and the like are usually caused by a weak mainspring and/or a lightened hammer. This is one of the reasons I never leave my No. 1s cocked when not in use.

I am not saying it is not the spring

Might simply break it down and do a thorough cleaning.

I remember an article written by Jon Sundra in the 1970s about an African safari where he used a Number 1. He was getting light strikes from so much dust getting into the action. He had to take it down and clean the dust out of the action to get reliable ignition.

Seems to me, once the trigger trips the hammer, the strike is up to the hammer and mainspring. I don't see how the trigger could be implicated in a light primer strike.

Well, the sear sort of rides the face of the hammer after it releases, so if it's not adjusted properly, or if the outside surface of the hammer is not concentric with the pivot point, it could slow things down (i.e. cause a lighter strike). But this scenario is a lot less likely than the mainspring or dirt theories.

Try this first.

Over time your lubricant might have congealed.
