Went to a Pa. show Saturday hoping to pick up a used Leupold scope or two. Had some money from detailing some motorcycles I just had to spend. Pretty well dry run on any lower powered Leupolds this trip. Found a '54 39A priced good but side drilled and some freckling on the barrel and receiver. The same vendor had another one made in '51 much nicer and top drilled for the standard Marlin 3/8 steel base. Had $325 on it with the Bushnell Custom 4x on it. He told me I could have it for $300 OTD including tax and background check. Had a hard to find Williams spur on it that fits the early hammers. Cleaned up nice and functions well after tweaking the cartridge guide a little.

Has the brass "peanut" insert grip cap only found on '51 year 39A's. Glad no one had it engraved.

Whick PA gun show ? You got a great deal. I'm usually at the Oaks,PA shows and would have been all over that one if I saw it first.

I was at Gettysburg. That show has become a decent show. I also like York and Bloomsburg but not Harrisburg. I don't go to any in the Pittsburgh area anymore. Terrible prices out there.
