Picked up a set of new binos. I have a Cabela's bino harness, but looking for thoughts on a case that protects the binos while hiking in the mountains.I have found the eye pieces are great at collecting water drops and needles when only using a harness.

Check out the Alaska Guide Creations case. I think it might be just what you are looking for.

You gotta have a bino cover if you hunt rainy (and sometimes dusty!) far west coastal mountains and carry them where you can use them while stalking or still hunting.

My current and best-so-far is a Rick Young spaghetti strap minimal chest harness with a Horn Hunter bino cover jury rigged to straps and binos. Very minimal, keeps rain and stuff off of the eyepiece lenses, rides well on chest and with quick flip/fold back of cover ends, has binos in use or covered again in a second or two.

Second best for me was the S4Lockdown system, bulkier, did not ride as well on chest and the rain cover concept was excellent but did not cover the top sides quite enough. I added cupped extensions to the top piece on mine.

I would take a look at kuiu's bino harness. They've even got a 15% off sale on accessories for father's day right now.

A Google search of "fight hunt fish gear" only returns your post here. I'm assuming that's FHF Gear, correct?

Been using Alaska Guide Creation bino packs since 2009. I like them a long and prefer it to the FHF and other systems I have tried. Just personal preference I think it comes down to and what you want to use the pouch for and such.

For several years I have had one of these on a pair of Swarovski 8x30. They fit over the binocs with an elastic strap and the flap stays closed with a magnet. They are compatible with binocular harness. I know there's other options out there, but I haven't babied these and consider them a bargain for $20.

Lou, thanks for the link. The Carson BinoArmor looks good enough that I might attach it to my Rick Young harness. I wish that the top flap was wider and slightly cupped to keep side wind micro rain out, but I modify a lot of gear and can add that.

The S4 Lockdown appears to be a version of the Carson BinoArmor connected to a complex strap harness.

Re the Alaska guide chest pack, great item but more than I want to have on my chest. Purely personal preference.

I will try to post a picture of what I have, it is modular and very interesting. I use a leopold chest harness. I like the QD feature. I acquired a pair of Brunton Eterna full size binos. They are OK but not great- but the cover is cool. a separate cover for each side of the binos, made of neoprene. It has a slot in the sides that the harness hardwear passes through. You can quickly peel back the neoprene cover from each eye piece and it slides off of the objective end of the binos as you do this. The cover stays out of the way (and actually folds over and snaps but attached to the harness. Works really well and I will probably use it on whatever 10x40s I buy as an upgrade...

I've got the badlands pack. It is pretty big. But I really like the way it opens/closes with a covered magnet.

Also I'm horseback quite a bit and wanted something to keep my glasses from bouncing on the saddle horn.

The FHF pack is sweet. I have been using mine for 3 seasons and it's awesome. Plus you support a really good dude in Bozeman.

Which Viper's do you have? I've got the 10x42's and have thought about getting a FHF case for them.

I have 10x42s as well. They say small is good up to 6.2" binos. The 10x42 Vipers are just under 6". I'll let you know tomorrow!

The small works great with the 10x42 Vipers. Wouldn't want it any shorter though. I'm keeping the small, but my guess is the Med would work fine too. The width is perfect with the small.

Can't seem to get good links, but these work.

I also went with the Badlands case. Again, kinda bulky but keeps the dust and, more importantly, snow and rain out.

This homemade piece of schit works surprisingly well. Made out of the stuff they make baby diaper covers out of. Waterproof and has a bit of stretch. Stays attached and is one less thing to fiddlephuqq with...

Nice creativity there 16!

I've tried bino cases and just have gotten along with any of them. Good ol shoulder strap and caps for me in both Alaska and Africa.
