This last week I had a discussion with my son who's an auto insurance adjuster. Somehow we got talking about pickup fires. He's dealt with a LOT of them. However, he said in the last 6 or 8 years he's not had a single claim for a fire in a Tundra. The way they're designed, they just don't catch fire.

He said the simplest ones were in Ford pickups. A while back they had a recall for the brake master cylinder because the caps would drip brake fluid. Directly under the master cyl was an electrical box. The fluid would drip into the box and short out the wires. Foof! Instant engine fire. Ford recalled them and the fix was simple - they just replaced the master cyl cap. Problem gone.

He checked out my '08 Dodge Cummins. He only found 1 recall on it - a part in the steering linkage. I had mine checked for that a couple years ago and it was good. Also, fires were very few.

I was driving a 2002 F-150 that was recalled because of the fires. Never knew exactly what they did before now.

Most people don't really want the truth.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
