Happy Father's Day to all our dads out there. The Campfire's reach is far and wide, so I know there's a lot of dads to enjoy this day we call our own.
I will remember my dad today as the man who gave me my strong work ethic, my skills as a hunter, fisherman, and trapper. Most of all, Dad taught me the right way to be a man, and how to work hard in the face of adversity.
In our country's time of need, Dad picked up arms and defended our nation from the Axis powers, in what was called the second war to end all wars. He shed his own blood, as well as that of his enemies because he believed in his leaders, his God , and his country.
Our world as we know it is a far better place because of the sacrifices of him and many others who took up arms in defense of our great country.
I will never be half the man my dad was. I can only hope that my contributions to society will be approved of by him and his brothers in arms. I guess all any of us can do is try to live a good life, and support our friends and family the best way we can.
Happy Father's Day Dad. We will be back together again someday soon.
