Does anyone commercially cast these? All I see have bevel bases.
(friend has my molds)

That's a swaged bullet, not cast.

A couple of these appear to be PB if the outfit is still in business.

RCBS 45-201KT was flat-based, dunno the current configuration of that bullet, though.

I got mine from Bullets direct they have a very slight bevel on the base and are reasonably priced. Now I cast my own.

Mark, just curious, what's the issue with a bevel base H&G #68?

I have cast and shot boo-coo BB #68 and don't have any issues with them. I had been lubing and sizing in a Star and have now started powder coating.

That happens when you get things hand cast and not done by machines. He has some specialty bullets/molds and he doesn't hard cast stuff like the majority of casters out there.

Most of his stuff is 11BHN (kind of like straight wheelweights). I don't need 18-22bhn crap.

FB bullets tend to be more accurate and cause less leading issues so I've read,I cast the 200 gr. SWC Lee version of the H & G #68 which is a BB design and TL it and have no issues as well. At 45 velocities I can't see leading being an issue anyways unless your bullet is undersized and you don't need that hard of a bullet either.

I'd not worry about any perceived loss of accuracy in a fixed chambered auto by using a bevel base.

Assuming they are sized and seated fairly snug to the throat diameter, not the nominal groove specs, having them up to even 30 BHN takes to the feeding and the shallow rifling better. Pretty much every decent 45 Auto around will do this with .452 bullets.
