Can this valve line be plugged to get back on the road?

How long can that 'fix' be used?

Vehicle is a 2.4L 4 cyl. Mitsubishi Galant.

It would have to be repaired/replaced, but is this resonable as a temp fix?

The P0441 code means that the control module has detected a leak in the Evaporative Emission (EVAP). Loose fuel tank filler cap is the most common cause that triggers the P0441 code.

When is the code detected?
Pressure in charcoal canister and fuel tank does not drop during purge control (2 trip detection logic)
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors
P0441 Mitsubishi Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) tests the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system for the following conditions:

- Large and small leaks

- Excess vacuum

- Purge flow during non-commanded conditions

- Fuel Level and Fuel Pressure sensor faults

- EVAP Purge and Vent Valve faults

The ECM monitors the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor in order to determine the level of vacuum/pressure in the EVAP system. The ECM commands both the EVAP Purge Solenoid and the EVAP Vent Valve ON when the conditions are met in order to apply an engine vacuum to the EVAP system. The ECM commands the EVAP Purge Solenoid OFF once the system has reached a predetermined level of vacuum. This test verifies if a vacuum can be achieved in the EVAP system. Failure to develop a vacuum may be caused by a large leak or a restriction.

I had Googled the code and know what it means. the valve controlling flow to the charcoal can is stuck and needs to be replaced along with the charcoal can.

What I'm trying to figure is how long the temp fix of plugging the hose going to the charcoal canister will be OK?
My understanding is this 'fix' only affects emissions.

The car is down in America for another month. I have an estimate of $500 for parts and labor. I'm hoping to wait until it gets back to fully correct the issue.

What kind of Alaskan are you? Electrical tape over the check engine light

I'm good with that provided the $0.01 piece of tape doesn't blow up a kilo-dollar engine.

Don't do anything - drive with the check engine light on. Millions of rednecks do it every day.

My SWAG is you won't blow the engine. Mileage might drop a bit, but other than that you are likely GTG.

Though you should change your head gasket immediately

In the old days the gas tank vapors were vented to the atmosphere, then we vented them through charcoal filters, and now the purge valve directs them through the intake a nd burns the gas fumes. It takes a sealed system to operate. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything except gas fumes not going where it needs to go. I wouldn't plug anything. I would drive it.
