I was price checking Bud's today for a R700 SS SPS and came across a rifle model that is new to me. Called the North American Custom Rifle. Checked Remingtons web site and no info so maybe this is a distributor exclusive. Looks interesting, SS, fluted barrel, fiberglass (?) stock. No further explanation of the construction details.
Is anyone familiar with this apparently new offering?

Note you can choose CM or SS. Stock looks to be a BC.

I don't buy new guns. I wish you hadn't posted that.

ww- You could put together a decent rifle for what they get for the North American Custom. And you could put a quality handle on it versus what they offer on the NACR.

Stainless 700 donor action: $550 Aftermarket fluted barrel blank: $475 Barrel install and action true: $450 or so (LRI) Timney Trigger: $150 McMillan Edge: $600 Skim Bed: $150
That puts a guy at the same price as that Custom Shop rifle, but with a top-end barrel, a trued action, a better trigger, and a better stock in your choice of pattern, LOP, and color. Just saying.....

New Custom Shop rifles are very over priced IMO. Especially considering that they sport a B&C stock. They do claim that they true the actions and guarantee MOA or less accuracy, but they are still using a factory hammer forged barrel.

I agree with the idea that a build is a more effective way to go. I actually was looking at the SPS SS for that very purpose before I got side tracked with the NACR. I had a Custom shop KS Mountain Rifle many years ago and when I saw the NACR it caught my eye. The B&C stock would never work for me. I bought a 708 Mountain Rifle a few years ago that came with their stock and as stated above it was a bit chunky and thick in the wrist. It now wears a McM Edge Mountain Rifle stock.

You could buy a SPS SS, a McMillan Mountain Rifle stock and sent it to a good accuracy smith to pillar/Marine Tex bed, free float the barrel, crown the barrel and adjust/replace the trigger and I'll bet it would shoot at least as good as anything offered by the Custom Shop today for way less money.

That's basically what I did recently for my first semi-custom. I had it cut and crowned too. It was $625 NIB. I was planning on upgrading the barrel in the future, but it shoots too dang good currently. You can get s new SS action for about $475. That's the way I'll go next time.

Bud's Gun Shop & Custom Rifle just don't seem to go together.

I have a ss sps in 7-08 that shoots very small groups. I bought it for about $450 on sale and put a timney on it. I have an edge fill mcmillan Remington mountain rifle stock on order and once it is on the rifle I should have about $1350 into it with the vx2 3-9x40 cds and talleys. I am hoping it will come in at 7.5 lbs all up and it will be a much better gun than the North American.
