I answered an ad in a local paper and sure enough, after a couple of phone calls, I arranged a meeting.

Then it happened! I fell in love with a 270. Can you imagine?

There she was.

[Linked Image]

The old girl had some age on her. A 1955 Featherweight to be exact and some wear in the usual places.

[Linked Image]

I cleaned her up and added an old Vari-X III, and took her out to the range. The first session was pretty intense, but fruitful.

She shot factory 130 gr Hornady Whitetail ammo into less than one inch.

I love the rifle Don. The 270 fwt's are pretty hard to find in good condition like that one. Most guys hunt the hell out of them and then they still hold their value better than most fwt's. As for the gay encounter. I won't tell your wife... laugh

Don, it's ok. You can go to therapy. You'll feel better in the morning.
In the meantime, I'll buy that one from you. I already have 2, so I'm too far gone. Say a word for me. smile

They're terrible rifles, BTW. How could anyone want one.

Winpoor if you ever shot one or better yet hunted with one you would love a 270. I like the 130gr NBT best but a Swift A Frame has flattened many a Mule Deer for me.

I recently found a very nice early 1950's FWT in 95% condition. I think a nice 270 FWT is one of the hardest M70's to come by.

Goes back to the old adage that manly men shoot 30-06's and gay little momma's boys shoot 270's.... Or something along those lines.. laugh

Im about as far from gay as you can get and that more I shoot my custom 25-06 that more I love it! I have no problem shooting a 50 cal if need be but whitetails are not hard to put down in a nano sec with a well placed shot! v best winpoor

Beware the man that calls the 270 gay, there is something lacking in his character...

I'm happy with the .270's in the gun safe.

Very nice Fwt you have.
