Several years ago, my son and I took up fly fishing. Every Summer we take a trip just to fish. This year, we decided to go to Idaho. The trip will be the last week of June. Starting some research for the trip. Any advice for Southern Idaho would be appreciated.

Can't help on that location, but would you like someone along to take notes?

I would hit owyhee river for browns then up to Hegben lake for more fishing.
on a different note might want to head a bit north and fish the Clearwater national forest. Kelly Creek. N Fork of Clearwater, Cayuse Creek, Moose Creek. Great west slope cut fishing on dries and some beautiful country

East Idaho has some good stuff. I do more wet flys on reservoirs and lakes, but one of the best rivers is the South Fork of the Snake. Hit the Teton river also.

Big Creek in the Frank Church Wilderness is pretty hard to beat for westslope cuts. We did really well there a few years ago, but it was in mid July. Might still be running high in June.

Nothing is running high this spring.........So. Idaho lakes and streams have been very slow this spring. About to go to Clear Lakes (Pay Hole) just to remember what catching a fish feels like..... Eastern Idaho - Henry's Lake, why bother with anything else?

Ha, went to the Clear Lakes CC ask the pro shop guy about fishing he said it was dead. They put 4000# of fish in there in Feb. catch and release only and he said the fish were gone. Could not explain it but said we could try. If we caught anything then come in and pay the $10. So we bagged it and went to Oster Lakes in Hagerman. Caught 1/2 dozen 12" range fish and had a good time. Was getting them figured out when the wife gave in and was ready to go home........FWIW Olive wolly-buggers w/ some red tinsel in a black tail pulled pretty fast was getting strikes nearly every cast. I was about to go smaller and trim the tails a bit when she pooped out on me.
