This is 2015, people are wanting to secede and make their own country. Yet we still have this level of ignorance on Constitutional issues.
The liberals scare me now. The "conservatives" scare me for the future.
Although privately owned, doesn't the racetrack fall under "Public Accommodations".? The owner might be able to discriminate, but I don't think he could just throw out those with the Battle Flag. They'd have to throw out those carrying Any Flag. No.? If NASCAR had a legal right to say NO Battle Flags on our property, I bet they would have already made the announcement. No. If I go to an Astros game and hold up a sign that says "F*CK NEGROES" they could kick me out without kicking out everybody with a "GO ASTROS" sign.

The statement signed by 30 tracks, including the tracks owned by International Speedway Corporation and Speedway Motorsports Inc., is as follows: “As members of the NASCAR industry, we join NASCAR in the desire to make our events among the most fan-friendly, welcoming environments in all of sports and entertainment. “To do that, we are asking our fans and partners to join us in a renewed effort to create an all-inclusive, even more welcoming atmosphere for all who attend our events. This will include the request to refrain from displaying the Confederate Flag at our facilities and NASCAR events. “We are committed to providing a welcoming atmosphere free of offensive symbols. This is an opportunity for NASCAR Nation to demonstrate its sense of mutual respect and acceptance for all who attend our events while collectively sharing the tremendous experience of NASCAR racing.” [color:#FF0000]A NASCAR spokesperson said the request would pertain to "overt displays" of the Confederate flag. If you're a fan wanting to bring in a 15-foot Confederate flag to fly on track property while at a race or are planning to use the symbol as a way to make a boisterous statement, you're likely going to be asked to not do so and possibly escorted out of the track premises.The statement from NASCAR's tracks is a continuation of the theme started by NASCAR chairman Brian France last week. In an interview with the Associated Press, France said he wanted the flag eliminated from NASCAR events. After France's comments, it was clear that the sport with strong southern roots preferred fans to not loudly display Confederate symbols. Thursday's statement makes it even more obvious, though we'll freely admit the request's success hinges more on fans making the (smart) decision not to display the flag than it does on tracks' ability to find offenders. Daytona International Speedway, site of Sunday's race, is hosting a Confederate flag exchange program for any fan who wants to turn in his or her Confederate flag for an American flag. The spokesperson said the program could be extended to other tracks as well. The sport does not sell any officially-licensed merchandise with the Confederate flag symbol and previously said it supported the effort to remove the Confederate flag from the grounds at the South Carolina Capitol.

There's lots of smaller dirt track ovals around the country that will be happy to take their business and there won't be any seats in the nosebleed section.And concessions are probably a lot cheaper.

[b][color:#3333FF]Link...![/color][/b] Fans heading to Sunday's Coke Zero 400 will have the opportunity to get rid of their Confederate flag if they so choose. According to reports from NBC Sports and the Orlando Sentinel, Daytona International Speedway is hosting a Confederate flag exchange program over the race weekend. A track spokesperson told NBC that specifics for the program have not been finalized. “We want to be open and inclusive,” Daytona president Joie Chitwood told the Orlando Sentinel. “We want to celebrate the American flag this weekend. That’s the flag that we should be celebrating. We’re going to have flags available so if fans want to exchange whatever flags they have for an American flag, we want to make sure they wave our nation’s flag. It’s our nation’s birthday. We’re going to have military there. That’s going to be our goal." NASCAR chairman Brian France said he doesn't like the Confederate flag and would like to have it eliminated from his sport's races. While the sport doesn't use the flag in any official capacity, it can frequently be seen flown by fans in attendance, especially at races in southern states. After the shootings in Charleston, South Carolina, NASCAR said it supported the moves to take the Confederate flag down from the South Carolina Capitol grounds. However, it didn't go so far as to ban the flag from races. While a ban could ultimately be possible in the future, no ban of the flag is in place for the weekend at Daytona. Since NASCAR is a private entity, the banning of the flag is not a free speech issue. Exchanges of controversial items aren't new in the sports world, though it's certainly fascinating to see one involving a flag that was around long before NASCAR was conceptualized. After the New England Patriots dissolved ties with tight end Aaron Hernandez, currently serving a life sentence in prison for murder, the team held a jersey exchange. Fans who had a Hernandez jersey were given the opportunity to trade in the jersey for another Patriots player. Just like with the Hernandez exchange, there will be fans at Daytona with Confederate flags who refuse to participate for any number of reasons. And those reasons include defiance. While NASCAR and track officials won't be confiscating flags from anyone on track property over the weekend, given the recent comments and gestures, anyone who chooses to display the flag will be doing so knowing that they're not in NASCAR's favor. I'll be disappointed if one flag gets turned in. Doesn't mean I have a dog in the flag debate, other than I hate the left for continuing to impose their will on the country as a whole..

If the fans don't make a statement Sunday, this issue will fade away and NASCAR will continue on as usual.

NASCAR just boycotted Trump and will not allow their awards ceremony to occur at any Trump property.
I am boycotting any company that boycotts Trump.
Again. this is not a Trump endorsement but at least he has the balls to point out what .gov will not.

So far, reported at Daytona i believe, no one has taken up the offer to exchange flags.
I wonder if the big wigs at NASCAR laid awake at nights trying to figure out how to lose their fan base...
And the cultural cleansing continues....
Pretty soon they'll MAKE us wear a confederate flag patch so they know who to march to the pits next....

It will all come down to private property owners having rules enforcing no confederate flags. Of course, you will see a million of them in the camping areas especially in places like Talledaga that have free camping across from the track.
First amendment rights do not end when you cross onto private property. If the "private owner" lets the public onto his racetrack, he can't pick and choose. Are they going to ban Battle Flag T-shirts and Hats? They will soon find themselves wrapped up in a court battle.... It's scary how little people understand the Constitution. And what little critical thinking they have. If I come to your house and start calling your wife fat, dumb and smelly.....is there anything you can do about it or does the 1A protect me? you don't wanna go there Blue, trust me I made that mistake when we were younger and I was mad at her I've about healed up, not quite, but almost

Brian France has proven to be a [bleep] idiot for years. So much so, they rarely let him on camera. I'll bet if his old man was still alive he'd give old Brian a colonoscopy with his boot. All you have to do to witness his damage is tune into any race and observe all the empty seats. Even the historically hard to get like Bristol. NASCAR fans are gonna paint Daytona red, white and blue and it ain't gonna be with the stars and stripes.

One thing that happens in my world... I PAY for the TV programming that comes into my house. I PAY for the satellite radio that comes through the speakers in my truck. NASCAR can join the growing list of "no play" in my household... NASCAR joins Garth Brooks, the Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Obama, and so on and so forth...  No muss, no fuss. I just turn them off.
