Just picked one up.... anybody know how to assemble one of these?

[Linked Image]

Seriously though..... I have no idea how this happened. I pulled it out of the pack, and this is how it looked... though still held together by the neoprene cover.

Guess we'll get to use that great Vortex warranty again.

That's got to inspire great confidence in the product.

Just decided to take me Nikon sheep hunting vs. my Vortex.......

Weight was really the deciding factor, but this is crazy, looks like it just came apart.

Yeah... the bag took a tumble off the table in the garage before we even left the house. I caught the tail end of the events, but was loading the car and didn't realize the magnitude of the crash. I've hauled that spotter all I over the place with nary an incident.... but two teenagers could trisect it in t-minus five seconds.

Gee look another guy getting to use Vortex's great warranty service. My lower end Leupold spotter took a tumble off the bench onto the concrete last week landing right on the eye piece. I picked it up and wiped the dirt off the rubber of the eye piece and kept using it.

All the talk about Vortex's warranty makes me wonder just how cheap of stuff they're sourcing.

That's the plan.... I saw a sweet spotter at Harbor Freight... it even comes with a tripod. I started saving-up for it yesterday.

Got a brand new one in the mail today... Took exactly 3 weeks from the day I dropped it off at the post office.

After going "on the air" internationally badmouthing the product and making it sound as if it was a brand new item and it just fell apart...

There is a reason Vortex is gaining ground on all the competition at every level... and some others are not doing well at all. None have the track record Vortex has put up and many wish they could have a small fraction of it.

I would be real curious what the OP is going to replace the Viper for, for the same money... Yup, nothing...

Show me where I bad mouthed them.... I'm actually pretty impressed with Vortex level of service. The spotter shouldn't have broken like that.... but it also got dropped. I'm just glad all it cost me was $6 for shipping. I won't buy another Vortex spotter.... but I'm certainly not swearing them off as a company.

for the record.... it will be replaced by a set of 15's....

Hate to agree with..........but Vortex has done a remarkable job creating and marketing their brand. Even though I find their products adequate, comparable, and sometimes overpriced in their respective price ranges, they are getting more and more popular all the time. I was in Cabelas, Lubbock TX the other day, and asked the optics help what was the most popular brand they sell. Vortex was the answer, and "it isn't even close". Gotta give Vortex credit for that.

Marketing sales and joe average isn't very knowledgeable. I like the people/company, yet their products fail at rates higher then any I have seen. I'm currently on my fourth Razor 1-6x. It's lost zero by .5-.6 mil twice. The first three had catastrophic failures.

Until you step up to the Gen II Razors you are buying into the hype. Even then I/we see too many problems with Gen II's for me to trust.

I trust Leupold VX-1's more than Vortex's (save the Gen II). And considering how often Leupolds Fail......

I must have missed the "badmouthing" part. Care to quote that?

I've had Vortex products in the past and I found a lot of big stuff with them. They occupy a price point that is attractive to most consumers. I never had an issue with them and would not bitch about using them again. Their customer service is amazing as well
