I am looking to buy an older Buck 110 and want one with the 440 steel , can some of you Buck guys tell me what vintage to look for and how to tell the production year ? not looking for collector but one to use . The different vintages are sort of confusing and I am looking to pick up good used carry knife from Ebay or like source

Are you absolutely set on that? I would think a really solid good condition 110 of that vintage would bring a pretty good premium. For around $100 from the Buck Custom Shop you can spec out a pretty nice knife with S30V blade. I believe the S30V will out cut 440C all things considered. With the added benefit that you end up with a unique knife of your own design. Just another way to go...

I have since seen posts on custom shop and would rather go that way . thanks for the information , I didnt know you could get a custom shop knife that reasonably

No problem, enjoy your Custom Shop knife. I've had several and they have been excellent 110's. When you get it spec'd out let us know what you ordered.
