I recently purchased an 1895G 45/70, serial 9105xxxx. Is this a RemMarlin? There are no letters with the number, I thought the RemMars had RM or something with the numbers. It has push button safety, guy said it was unfired. It has a Williams peep on it.

Why would it have peep on it if it was "unfired"? And why would anybody care if it made under Remington's name?

I sent the number to Marlin, they are saying 2010 manufacture. Why would it have peep on it if it was "unfired"? And why would anybody care if it made under Remington's name? Can't see why adding a peep would affect the unfired status. Kinda like putting a scope on before firing.

I think Rem took over before 2009.
In December 2007 Remington Arms Company purchased Marlin. Remington announced in April 2008 that it would close the Gardner manufacturing plant by the end of 2008 affecting 200 workers. In March 2010, Marlin announced that it would close its North Haven plant, and move the work to Remington plants in Ilion, New York, and Mayfield, Kentucky.
