Thinking about buying the new tikka ctr 260. Any thoughts on this rifle for mid to long range target and a short to mid range deer rifle?

I love the two we have... I think they're a great platform for an all around gun for play and mid-range hunting. Set-Up with a LR hunting type scope (21-28oz) they still weigh undder 10lbs, and they're about 40" long. Wearing 16bore's Talleys and a 3-9 Leupold they weigh just under 8.5lbs.

Mine won't reach the lands with 130/140 VLDs and still feed them from the 2.95" magazine... but the 123/139/140 Scenar and Amax will kiss and feed. Hasn't seem to matter though, both have shot just about everything sub-MOA.

The 20" barrel gives up a little velocity to the 23" barreled .260... but not as much as I thought. I can get 2900 outta the 123s... but they seem to like it a little better at 2825-2850ish. 140s will go 2700+ without any issue.

I've run both mine and Em's with the suppressor... and accuracy doesn't change, but POI changes about 4" (straight down). I'm at about 200 rounds through mine since it was last cleaned... it shows little/no effect.

I fooled with the cheek-piece on mine, and moved it up a little to provide better weld. I had to carve a little on it so I could remove the bolt without moving the cheek-piece... but it all came together.

For less than a grand, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better rig... unless you're looking for a 7lb hunting rifle... then just buy the regular T3 lite.

I have one and have only taken it to the range once. Shot off crappy old bags I have and it grouped around .75" or less with factory ammo, i never did measure it but three holes were "mickey mouse" touching. I have a 6.5 creedmoor in a Vanguard 2 that doesn't shoot as well so thinking about selling it now.

I love mine so far, though I haven't shot it a ton.

I was sold on it after shooting the very first group. Those first 5 shots were with Fed premium 120 NBT, all went into under an inch, closer to 3/4 IIRC. Then the next 4 different loads I tested all shot under 1". Its has been the most consistent and least picky rifle I've messed with up to this point. I need to finish working up a load for it and stretch it out.

If you want to handle one in person before buying PM me and you can come see mine.

I can only shoot out to 250 at my place because of slothfulness right now. This was a few weeks back shooting off the ATV's utility box w Fed 120BTs. Me n the guys I'm going to Colorado w this October are fixing to start working out to 500+ on a more mountainous property. [img:left][Linked Image][/img]

Between closed roads (actually a good thing) and pissing rain all day.... I didn't get much looking done. Plus..... my new 3-piece Vortex spotter sucks, I couldn't even figure out how to assemble it...

Dog shooter,

Straight down is good… much easier to compensate for if you don't have to correct for windage.

What does your suppressor weigh?

Tikka CTR's; They are coming out with a stainless version, a whopping $150 up charge. Don't think they have them in stock yet.

Super Sniper. Peasant rifles deserve peasant glass.
