It pains me to say this but the Tikka CTR is one of the most accurate rifles I've ever shot.
I hate .308's and I hate Tikkas. But that [bleep] SHOOTs.

What is to hate about Tikkas? Slick action, good trigger, and very accurate. What am I missing? Most would say "plastic". That was the primary objection early on. Now, performance has won over appearance for those who value accuracy, but not for all. I suppose I bought my first T3 about 13-14 years ago. They got a lot of hate back then. Some found it upsetting when a 400-and-something-dollar rifle would out-shoot $2K customs and still heft a pound or two lighter. Plastic was the about only thing detractors focused on back then, either believing or hoping the accuracy claims were just a flash in the pan or overblown. The glass-smooth action and great triggers were hard to deny. My first was a stainless 270 WSM. I killed more game with that rifle than any I've owned. It was consistently sub-MOA with either 130 Gamekings or TSX with Magpro. In a weak and painful moment of post shoulder surgery a few years ago, I sold it and bought a 6.5x55. It shot even better. Now I have two 6.5x55's, but would love to have the 270 WSM back. I'm picking up a 30-06 T3 today after work. It's blued and has a 24" Shilen stainless barrel.The orginal Tikka/Sako barrel is included, as is a Limbsaver. The seller did not have problems with the original barrel but thought the Shilen would do better. Except for a bit more velocity, it shot about the same as with the original barrel, he said. So I can shoot the Shilen out in the next 25 years and my kids can still put the original barrel back on and give to their kids. Life is good.
