I'd say about 18-20 too. I've caught silvers almost that size.

I'd be in the 18# crowd. Pard caught a silver out of Seward week before last that went 17, too bad the derby isn't until next month.
Beauty of a chromer though, they fight like dolphins when they're bright like that.

I haven't got an official weight yet, the angler is 6'10" and it might be bigger than suspected. I heard that it is 25# but waiting to hear from his dad. This as caught off POW.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned 40 pounds previously. It’s gotta be at least 45 by now.

Bender, you have over-bid, sorry, but you do not win the NEW CAR!! As always, thanks for playing! (notice I refrained from bidding, as I didn't want to pay taxes on my prize.)

Or guess the weight of anything else. I remember a coyote I shot that weighed less than 20 pounds and some folks were guessing all the way to 50+ pounds!

The lateral line is a dead giveaway on king size. Can't make a lateral line look more pronounced no matter how much camera trickery is involved.

Always fun filleting rock fish, you wonder how such a big fish provides such small fillets. Depends on who is doing the fileting. I watched an idiot very carefully and methodically turn a sockeye into two-10oz filets. Should have gotten a wanton waste ticket, IMO.

It’s obvious that most guys here are trying way too hard. That’s a dead giveaway that most of them are not serious fishermen. That fish has to be at least 60# by now in any serious fishermen’s eye/mind/memory....

Did he take the ‘backstrap’ filets, or the ‘flank’ filets? ‘Twould be a real shame to include any bones in such carefully ‘shanked’ filets.

My interest in the technique was piqued when the first two cuts were vertical behind the pectoral and behind the adipose. The filet was 'trimmed' to about 2-1/2 inches from D/V.

While I appreciate the continued response, I posted days ago that the fish weighed 21 pounds. Probably long since been reduced to sewage...
