Picked up a lovely, very lightweight .270 from an auction. No manufacturer's name on the action and only ".270 Win" on the barrel.

Can anyone identify the manufacturer?

It has the profile of a Savage but there's no barrel nut, and I don't think I've ever seen a slotted knob on the back of a bolt like that.

But anyway, it has a gorgeous custom curly maple Fajen stock with handcut fine line checkering...

...and the whold thing can't weight much more than 6lbs. The safety is right where it's supposed to be - under the thumb. It's almost enough make me load up some 130gr NBT's and leave my 7mm-08 at home!

Savage 110 with a custom stock.

There should be a serial number on the action.

Looks like an older savage with a custom stock and barrel. The slotted bold nut is not uncommon on older actions. Looks nice

The only slotted knob I can recall was on a Savage.
Bolt release also looks like Savage Stevens.
My best guess, Savage.

Right, a 110 with a custom barrel that was conventionally fitted and chambered, eliminating the barrel nut.

Cool. Now I just have to see if it shoots as well as most other Savages!

Thanks, all.

I'm not a Savage guy, but that one's very nicely done. You should send a picture to Savage and maybe they'll take the hint.
