Any recommendation on a tripod to use for sitting and standing? Primos? Bog-Pod? Others?
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

Blacktailer - when I was into nature photography I purchased several BOGEN and GITZO brand tripods. One Bogen went to ground level and is rock solid compared to those sold for use with spotting scopes today. Before buying new check out area pawn shops first. May find a good deal there. Otherwise, KEH.com specializes in both new and used equipment. Homesteader

OOPs. Should have specified tripod rest for shooting. Sorry.

I've been using a Bog Pod for my daughter, and she likes it a lot. I see no issues with it, I've not shot from it. My daughter has no problems using out to 250+ yards on white tail in Oklahoma.

Blacktailer - no problem there. Have found using the camera tripods mentioned do a better job at holding my spotting scopes steadier. Especially that 'go to ground' Bogen for prone use. Plus, they were paid for 20+ years ago! Homesteader.

In the past two years I've used 2
Primos Trigger Stick Tall Tripod and the Camo Bog Pod
After using both in Africa for a couple weeks I kept the Trigger Stix and sold off the Bog Pod
The Trigger Sticks and the Bog Pod were identical in terms of a solid rest but the Bog Pod suffers with the camera tripod type leg snaps and a very wide yoke vs the Primos "V" and in an instant adjustable hight
As a walking stick the Primos adjust instantly and I use it to steady myself myself in the Rockys
I also use the trigger sticks for my binoculars and tripod
After using both I recomend the Primos by far

There are several "tactical" cradles available to attach to your favorite tripod. I made my own version awhile back from aluminum tubing. Drilled and tapped to accommodate a quick release plate, and inner surface lined with velcro (fuzzy side). Pics below show the cradle attached to a Slik Sprint Pro. I know others have done the same with PVC.

I use my bog pod for my rabbit shooting as the rolling terrain dosent allow for sitting or prone shots so standing and the bog pod makes rabbits to 150yds do-able most days.

Dogshooter - my Gitzo looks a lot like that, especially with a big ball head mounted. Would hold up to 4x5 view's very nicely. Humped all over the Gettysburg battlefield site in the mid-90's with it. Would send me into a hospital if I tried it today. LOL. I imagine it would do nicely on a .338 Lapua rig as well. Homesteader
