I am wanting to buy a couple of 8lb jugs of H4831sc does anyone know of anyplace that has it in stock and that would ship it to me?

I can find H4831 but not the sc version.

I have seen it on line for $165 a jug but would give a little more if someone had it in stock.

Thanks
Dink

I bought 8 x 1 lb bottles from Brunos in Phoenix. He gave me pricing as if I were buying an 8lb jug.

Same here. 1pounders are out there so I would buy several.

That's what I would do too, if I had to have the short-cut version. But apparently eight 1-pounders don't always equal one 8-pounder.

I am not out yet but it's getting close.

The problem with buying one pounders is the same 8lb's of powder will cost you $200-$240 dollars instead of $165 for the jug.

I am frugal darn it! Or maybe I am just cheap.

My apologies. Looked at the Brunos site and found they are charging like hell for 8-pounders, so eight 1-pounders at the same price isn't any sort of deal. And now remember why I quit looking at the Brunos site a year or so ago.

You can, however, get IMR7929 for a a price similar to what you want to pay for H4831SC, and while it's slightly slower-burning it works very well in the same applications. I have had enough of not being able to get the Extreme powders when I need 'em to start switching over to IMR 4451 and 7977, just because I can get 'em when I need 'em.

We have several 8# kegs in stock, but it's not cheap.

I buy powder from multiple sources -- direct from Hodgdon, Western, and through distribution. I basically take what I can get when I can get it.

The guys out there asking higher prices probably aren't gouging. They're more than likely buying it through distribution, then applying their normal margin. When the powder is sourced direct, $165ish is the standard price. When going through distribution, $200ish is not uncommon. Not to mention the fact that the discrepancy widens if you're not ordering 6000lbs at a time...

I don't buy from Bruno's because of their prices. But if it's the only game in town? 8 lbs of Varget cost me $200.00 last month but felt I needed it . Times, they are a changing.
Now if I could find me some Ramshot Hunter and Big Game.

Saw a couple of 8 pound jugs of H4831 at Sportsman's Warehouse. That was about two weeks ago and price IIRC was $189.99. Eight pound jugs of IMR powders are running $184.99 but the bigger sellers are showing up in good quantities - IMR4831, IMR4350, IMR4895, IMR3031 and maybe one or two others. They've had at least one or two 8 pounders of the aforementioned on the shelf every time I've gone in, even days after their powder resupply. One pounders are readily available as well.

It looks like a lot of the powder supply is regionally spotty as I haven't seen any IMR7929 or 4451 that I recall. Cabela's may have had some but I quit looking at their powder shelf after examining the prices.

My personal grail is an eight pound jug of H4350...

Brunos sucks plain and simple. Last time I looked at his site he was charging almost triple for Federal primers and at least double for powders. A real friend of the shooting community that guy is.

Dealer down in Menard, Tx. has it and ships. 29.99 for 1 lb and 184.99 for the 8#. This for H4831 not the SC version

That's exactly what the OP was about--he can find H4831 but wants H4831SC.

Personally I would just order an 8-pounder of IMR7977 from Graf and Sons. It's on sale right now for 164.99, and even with hazmat and shipping would be around $200, which isn't a bad price these days. 7977 is a temp-resistant short-cut powder that's very slightly slower than H4831SC and very slightly faster than H1000.

Hmmmmm. Right between two of my favorites.
