Greetings,
My son is stationed in Germany, I am looking at next July (2016) heading over and would like to take advantage of hunting Roe Deer and any other animals open during the summer.
In am in the United States.

How difficult is the process to import a rifle for my hunt? Will I need the permit for each country (Germany, Czezh Republic, Hungary, etc??)

I am open to suggestions and recommendations, so please feel free to contact me!!

Thank you,

Hancock

In Hungary, Austria, Poland and Romanina you will need an invitation letter from the hunting service who you will be hunting with. You will declare the firearm at customs, airport or border, and present the invitation letter and receive a permit that is good for the length of stay in that country. You must check out with customs when you leave. Ensure you bring the firearm and ammo that is listed on the invitation letter. If flying Luftansa, make sure when you purchase tickets that you tell them then that you will be transporting a firearm, they like to know before hand. Driving across Countries you are not hunting in can be a problem.

+ 1 on Lufthansa.

I've flown with firearms on Lufthansa several times.

Inform then in advance, and if the person at the desk is the least bit unsure (that only happened to me once with Lufthansa -- in Toronto), just politely ask for a supervisor.
