I've got one, used to have another but traded it for a Miroku 92.

I worked the trigger and the rebound over in mine for a nice trigger pull and put a receiver sight on it. I did add a red recoil pad because the LOP was way too short for me, though I would have preferred to have the nice checkered buttplate.

It is accurate, smooth, and super reliable. The light front end coupled with the skinny forearm can make it pretty sporty with +P loads though. They have the same carrier as the 45/90 guns too, so dependent upon throat length you can seat bullets out further.

Darn nice guns, I'd take the one I have over a pair of Marlins.

Look for a Browning 1886. No rebounding hammer and they are a better gun all around. A little extra weight when shooting a 45-70 never hurts...

A very pretty 45/70 - superb fit and finish. Unfortunatel they are terrible mechanically.

How so? I've been inside dozens, converted them to different calibers among other things. I've also worked on originals and original 71s. The new guns show much better tolerances and in the case of the Brownings, a much improved mainspring setup.

I had one original and one Jap, both were beautiful inside and out. They are too heavy to be a serious hunting rifle or a way of bear proofing a fishing trip, not to mention the cost of one. I have 2 Marlins now, one new remlin and an original JM. They are light function great, accuracy is on par with the 1886's and cost a hell of a lot less. If you beat it up or it gets eaten by a bear its not that big of a deal. To each his own, I use mine for more than just looking at, that's why I have 2.

I've been so overwhelmed with fake news that I'm now nuts. Let's go Brandon

I've got the full size (26" barrel, full magazine tube) Browning 1 of 500 1886 in it's original box if interested. $1,275 shipped would do it. Test fired only. I have it for $1,475 + shipping on Guns Intl:

mine works no matter what . i put a leather wrap on the leaver to help my fingers wile working the action. looks cool also! ammo can be a bit longer in the 1886 than the marlin, it is said it is a bit stronger as well. turnbull said winchester tried a experment with a 46 winchester that ran 60,000 cup! get it and have fun, that is what it is for. by the way i shot my bison with mine and had no second thoughts. I have one of the extra lite deluxe models. Miroku makes one hell of a rifle. Also own a 1895 in .405 Winchester built by Miroku. Never had any issues with the rebounding hammer or feeding or ejecting with either.
I did have the throat lengthened on the extra lite 45-70 by about 1/4 inch.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
