Windows 10 is now available for download, if you are already running a later version of Windows.
Installed it last night, and opened it up this morning. First off, Google Chrome wouldn't run on it. My Geographix mapping software wouldn't run on it, and it may be a few years before they get around to porting their software to the newest version of Windows. Dish Network's video viewer, Dish Anywhere, won't run on 10. You have to have Explorer 11 or Firefox to be able to run it.
In short- v.10 SUCKS. In typical fashion, Microsoft has released a product that has not yet been sufficiently debugged.
Fortunately, they provide a path to reinstall your previous version, which I have done. I won't be installing v.10 anytime soon! A word to the wise.

Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote. *Marvin Simkin* L.A. Times (1992)

I understand that there are some serious privacy concerns/issues with it. Apparently it sends metadata back to Microsoft, similar to a key-stroke logger AND the terms of use allow Microsoft access or the right to snoop into ANY file on your computer.

Well, you've learned why "First kid on the block to have..." isn't always the best plan.

The only problem I had was that Norton saw BEX. Exe as harmful so it wouldn't work. Fixed that and all other programs have been backwards compatible. Edge browser also took care of pop- ups on here. So far so good, but I have already copied the installation onto disc and have a full back up of Win 7. No worrys here. Can dual boot or go back at any time.

M$ is notorious for releasing insecure, bug filled crap on the first release. until the chinese and russian hackers get a go at it and M$ releases some security patches, i'd steer clear. give it a year or so.

Meanwhile, in NASCAR today, the Windows 10 400 mile race was held at Pocono Speedway. It was filled with crashes and cautions. No surprise, really . . . .

I put it on three computers with absolutely no issues or problems. Actually, I was impressed, and I am not a Microsoft fan........

My nephew (Cyber security marine with MARSOC) and son (IT professional) just both went to it and like it. Probably will myself in the next week or so.

Data collection and sharing can be disabled pretty easily by not allowing it to install the default settings.

My BIL is a Software Engineer. He told me to hold off upgrading for a little while.
