Yesterday, I bought a beautiful PH Safari Deluxe in 308 Win. Parker Hale LtdBirmingham England is stamped on the bbl, above the front sling stud and cal 308W is over the chamber. It has flip up irons, as well as an integral quick detach scope base and rings. The scope is a Kahles Helia Super fixed power(pretty sure 6) and the front ring is attached to the front bell of the scope.

It has a great double set trigger and the trigger guard is contoured well into the grip. The stock is walnut, with a black grip cap and white line spacer. Also a cheek piece and schnoble forend tip. The pad is a Pachmayr White Line.

I have looked and can't find this rifle, with these features anywhere. Just wondering if anyone knows exactly what model it is, as everything looks correct concerning it to be a factory rifle. The only thing that might be aftermarket is the pad, but I'm not sure.

I know, pix would help, but I'm unable to post any at this time. I'd be glad to text a few to anyone who could post them.

Thanks!

Sounds nice. I never saw that configuration, but it may well be original. Some of the PHs were built on FNs and some on Santa Barbaras.

Whatever it is, if it's well done, it's a great rifle.

Thanks. Yes, everything looks factory. I'm hoping that I scored a nugget, as well as a great shooter.

There seems to be alot of odd Parker Hales floating around out there. I recently picked up one with a Brno ZG-47 action. I searched the internet to try to find some more info on it and I found lots of questions about the different models but very few answers. If you come across a good site, please let me know.

A bit of info on this link.

I believe the PH built on the Brno zg 47 actions were "Hussars", fwiw.

My Parker Hale 1200 in 270 Win has the same barrel markings as yours. It is built on an FN action and was purchased brand-new from JC Penney's around 1972 for $79 out the door. A Redfield one piece base, rings, and a Japanese 4 power scope was included in the sale price.

The scope held up just fine for the first hundred or so animals and then I replaced it with a Leupold 2 x 7. Since that time I have killed a pile elk, deer, antelope, and one bear.

It would provide the basis for an excellent custom gun but at that point I would have to ask myself… WHY? It has served me well for 43 years and has never let me down. Pat yourself on the back for adding a gem to your collection.

Yours sounds similar to mine. I just can't find any that were made with a double set trigger and the same stock. It's amazing to me how clear and bright that old Kahles scope is. Not changing anything on this, unless it doesn't shoot.

I had a 1200 in 30-06 with the same scope.

I sold it last year, but I don't recall anything to suggest that the action was built by FN. I was under the impression that the actions were made by Santa Barbara. Does yours have Belgian proof marks?

Sorry, haven't logged in for a bit. I seem to remember Made In Belgium on the action but it will take me a day to check and take a photo.

im not a mauser expert, but I don't think commercial actions were made with a thumb cut, which would make yours a surplus action...but Im not sure.
nice looking parker though.
glad to help out.

Thanks for posting the pix! Now, does this look like a factory rifle? My gunsmith friend told me that PH sold a lot of rifles overseas that were not available in the US. Hoping that someone can fill me in.
