Right? Music is a strange thing that way. I guess playing a little helps me appreciate generational change.
dont play but listen to a bit of everything from about the 60's forward......dont particularly like that artist but have some others of the type in my library.....and though dont care much to listen to that artist do agree with what the song is saying....might be in the style of rap but far more conservative than most country

We tend to want to put our heads in the sand and discount what the younger generation does as foolish. Our parents did the same thing. Some of the messages in this stuff are pretty powerful, and timely.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.
Say what you want about Dwight, he's always kept it real.
The redheaded she devil worked on a video with him back in the late 80's, early 90's, said she couldn't believe someone could have jeans that tight, and do that much coke. He did a wardrobe change and a bump every hour and a half.
For a cocaine cowboy, I think he's alright.

FWIW, I just finished phase 1 of a very large job, where we hired about 50 laborers from all over the country. Most in kolluge, some just out of HS, to get experience in the building trades.
I wouldn't hesitate to toss them the keys to this country when the time comes.
We're going to be alright.
Maybe that's what Mannlicker hates. An attached sense of optimism born from being with the future, and helping them see a path that will benefit themselves and the country as an whole.
Or I could be popular around here by watching fox news all day and say we're going to chit.

Oh yeah, bought a couple Dwight CD's back in the 1990's. He always has a great band/sound.
That's a great tune but it is far from being country.
Mini Thin may have a good message but the delivery is so lacking in talent it is hard to stomach. That and the Kid Rock schtick is a little dated. He kinda reminds me of the douche from Tennessee that posted on here for awhile. The one with the pic on the fireplace with the slippers.

I can't disagree with the much of the lyrics but its no wonder everyone thinks people from tennessee are stupid hicks. They call that $hit hick-hop and it SUUUUUUUX. Redneck retards acting like gangsters, not the people I want to voice my opinion, nobody in their right mind would take those guys seriously. On top of that both girls are homely. Tards fo sho yo.

If its got people flipping the bird and cursing it ain't Country.
Even I get that.
Anyways, like that last "country" video you posted with them big fat guys some time back, I kept expecting a scene where they were having sex with farm animals.

That is some annoying schitt there. About typical for this day and age. The fact that someone could listen to more than 5 seconds of that is incredible.

a "message" in a song doesn't make it country. That white trash stuff is far from country. If that song in the original post was played on a "country" music station, I'd still not tune in, as they don't play any country these days anyways, that stuff wouldn't change my mind. I listen to old rock in roll these days. Wish there was a station local that played old 'real" country.
Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.

Wait a minute. I think they're saying country music is like disco...a "genre", and really has nothing to do with being from the country. Like the Dixie Chicks.

That's why I have and love my SiriusXM.
Me too! Willies Roadhouse and Prime Country are the two Sirius Stations I listen to the most.
All that crap they play on FM "Country" stations nowadays sure as hell ain't COUNTRY !

I think personal interpretations vary wildly of what anything "is" when it comes to music. Obviously being FROM the country is not a pre-req to some. Only what it sounds like.
Then again, what is "country" as far as where one is from or lives?

Sorry Pat, but by any sane definition, that's no even close to country. It's white trash trailer park noise. I'm OK with folks liking it, (one guy's noise is another's music) but I AM getting tired of lines being pushed, and definitions being rewritten...............and Bruce Jenner being called a hero. Anyway, enjoy your slippery slope, and here's some more noise from some very confused white kids.
There's another one that's just as bad that advertises in one of my 4wd magazines. I'll try to find him.

I get your point Pat, and can look backwards to all of the musical examples that prove what you're saying. It's all just entertainment, so whatever floats a generation's boat I guess. I just can't call it "country" any more than that bubblegum crap Tim McGraw makes a fortune with. While Reality TV is also a form of entertainment, it's so distanced from reality, that I can't enjoy that either. If this new "genre" was given a different label, like Trailer, then I'd be fine with it, and know what to expect, and avoid.
I do enjoy the Gangstagrass intro to Justified BTW.
And to your original point, I AM encouraged that this next generation is calling BS to the Political Correctness that's being shoved down our throats. I said exactly that yesterday to a high school kid at a gas station who pulled up in a late model Chevy 2500 with both Gadsen and CS Battle flags flying from the bed. He and his GF didn't look "hate filled," just young, and fed up with the country they're inheriting.

I understand. I grew up listening to Floyd Cramer and Chet Adkins and in my adolescence it was Waylon, Willie and the Boys. Skynard and ZZ Top came around when I started playing, then SRV and A/C came into the picture.
I am of the opinion that any style of music can be good...or bad.

Actually, I only posted that one because of the thick girl. I turn the sound off on that one.
Here's another "genre" that needs the sound turned off, but it has Kendra. Proof that budgeting for the scenery yields much better results than filming your sister/cousin for free.

Mark's one of our local boys. He still performs, but would rather just hang out at his place and drink.
Just one more reason for me to make a trip down there!
This video was filmed at one of our favorite little places, the "Pine Tree Lodge". It's not really as much of a beer joint, as it is a diner, but we though it came out pretty good.

Sorry, I've never like that one from MC. Some other ones are OK though.
Not to let this thread and its original topic die just yet, here's another "modern country" singer. IMO he's more talented, AND is able to poke fun of the message/himself at the same time. Even has a made up name. Anyway, I wouldn't like the song on the radio, but like the video because its meant to be funny rather than expecting the audience to take him seriously. The first time I saw the fat truck driver rappers I thought it was a satire, then realized they were trying to be serious.
