Any of you 7600 shooters, or anyone else for that matter, know anything about or have any experience with the Rem 7600 Weathermaster version? There is one on Gunbroker & the guy is saying it's "stainless", but everything I find on the net says Nickel Finish on Receiver and Barrel. Nickel or Stainless, it appears to be a matt finish (see pics below). How well will a Nickel finish hold up? How would it compare to Stainless for weather resistance? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks firstshot

That's a nickel finished gun. I'm sure it looks like stainless to the seller, but he's mistaken.

I'd bet the end of that box tells the finish.

I'd bet the end of that box tells the finish. I would have thought so too! firstshot ------------------------------------ Make your first shot count!

From Wikepedia: The Remington Model 7600 Weathermaster - A Model 7600 rifle that has a nickel finish to the rifle as well as the rifle having a black synthetic stock. Mike

I'm just wondering WHY the picture won't come up... I hate redX's and I hate losing even more! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Here's a copped pic of the 870 Marine Magnum shotgun by Remington:

Either way, looks to make for a nice deer rifle. Would not mind having one myself.

I emailed Remington and here is the response I got: The Model 7600 Weathermaster has a nickel plated receiver, magazine, and outside of barrel. This is different from the 870 Marine Mag. which has "Electroless" plating. It is also no plating on the inside of the 7600. There will be no nickel plating on the end of the barrel after it is shortened. I think I'm just going to stick with a black matte non-reflective finish and synthethc stocked 30-06 carbine and call it good. firstshot -------------------------------------- Make your first shot count!
