I dunno 'bout the quality of the knives, but it's a bummer that them camouflaged hats are sold out...the ones for a hundred bucks each...made outa nylon...the ones that are 'absolutely guaranteed' to have imperfections in em'. I'm sure it's all on the up and up though...'cause there is a Bible verse on the website.

I agree.. I am done.. I have said what needs to be said. Cant change people or set expectations thinking they will "right a wrong." Oh well.

Just bought a Condor HD kukri. Really impressed with it. Seems to be of very good quality and the sheath that came with the knife is among the best I have seen (as far as a mass manufactured knives are concerned). Although there is nothing wrong with leather, I prefer Kydex. May try and make up a kydex sheath for it. We shall see.

Outdoors people should be sticking together not passing blanket judgements on each other IMHO. Remember when they tried to turn hunters against target shooters (I am both). It didn't work out well.

Apparently a bunch of yankees who's biggest outdoor feat is starting a fire in their back yard without matches aren't aware of the hostilities and attacks trappers have to deal with on a daily basis.
It's in the hunting, fishing, gathering forum.

Here is that thread.

People can judge for themselves if they wish to read the entire thing. Some agreed with a hesitation of giving private information online most others like myself felt it's the forum owners right to run his house as he sees fit. Also many fully understood the challenges the owner faces in dealing with anti hunting/trapping bigots. I haven't trapped in 30 years so only participated due to being a big believer in Freedom of Association. Also I despise those who try to bully hunters, trappers, fisherman and shooters. Antis suck. We can all agree on that.

It's true that some folks stuck up for T-man but I didn't see anyone ripping on the OP for backstabbing like they did Manlicker.

I was simply pointing out to Michigunner that the bushwhacker crowd aren't beyond some internet backstabbing themselves.

It's everywhere,, and while I'm no fan of Manlicker, he's not the only one doing it.

And don't be too hard on poor old Manlicker,,,, I've seen him post pix of his woodsman skills taking place in his back yard too. smile

I read the entire "Trapperman.com" thread over on BCUSA and didn't think anyone was "backstabbing" at all. I think they were just wondering why the Trapperman site owner requested personal information such as phone numbers etc. The OP on that thread was simply asking a question and wondering if others shared their personal info on internet forums. Plain an simple. Not as if the OP from that thread started a post ridiculing the Trapperman site or the owner of the site.

I am a member of 4 or 5 outdoor forums where I enjoy reading and learning different things. I have never been asked for my personal info. I 100% understand why trapperman does.. He has to protect his site from the PETA people and others. Makes sense to me.

Just ain't gonna let it go no matter how many times you say you're done with this thread. (I count two or three so far.)
Are you?

Well I'm not going to argue with you because no matter what anyone says you'll obviously defend the bushwhackers with their Mora knives and sawed off H&R Handi's, (AKA "dedicated bushcraft rifles") anyway so I'll just leave you with a hardy GFY.

Even classier was the post that he quoted. The one from the other knife maker calling someone else's work a piece of sh**. I see he quickly did a 180 and apologized. "telling it like it is" and being a complete A-hole are two very different things.

What did I say that upset you? I agreed that Trapperman.com has every right in the world to demand whatever they want for membership. The only thing I disagreed about was the "backstabbing". After reading the other thread, I personally didnt feel as if it was malicious. This one, started by Man-licker, yeah, pretty malicious.

I said I was done a few post back. I then started talking about knives and mentioned that I just purchased a Kukri. However, no one seemed to care about the knife part. It appears the audience here is more interested in an argument. As you clearly are... Carry on..

Again.. This is getting ridiculous. Mr. FieldGrade is also a member of BCUSA. Funny how all you guys will sit here and badmouth all the guys over there yet you are all fricken members of the site and post semi-daily. Two faced SOBs

Hows that Husky Carpenters axe? You sure do have some nice photos of it over on BCUSA showing it off to all the "bushwackers with their Mora knives and sawed of H&R Handi's".

Incredible. Completely ridiculous.

Thanks. It's been too long. Yes I am guilty of among other things rubbing two sticks together to start a fire without matches. Even do it on ice. No it's not my greatest accomplishment in the woods. That involved an Irish women plus Eureka tent. grin

Why? Because I DIY a Kydex sheath for a custom PSK knife and wanted to put the blade though some field testing. Also burning stuff is fun but most of all because I can. That said I won't be replacing my Bic and firesteel anytime soon with just sticks.

I think it came out well.

Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, trapping, target shooting, fishing etc etc etc. In a world full of video games we are all real people doing real things.

Just a general rant that has nothing to do with 222Rem who is a good guy. A rant which unfortunately if you are still reading this are about to be subjected to. Maybe press the ignore button while there is still time.....

Last chance......

All those who spent a grand or more on tipi shelter systems raise your hands.

My hand is up.

All those who spent over a grand on a rifle (including or excluding glass) raise your hands.

All those who spend more than 500 bucks on a pack raise your hands.

My hand is up.

Any 100 dollar plus axe people?

My hand is up.

So what. Who cares. I am sure they're people the world over who would laugh their backsides off at a 1000.00 tent. Whatever. To each their own.

This is what the OP said. Maybe let the readers decide.

I recently tried to join this forum in an attempt to learn more about trapping.
I was trying to find what traps I should buy, and just general methods of trapping.
I was denied because I would not provide a private phone number to a man named "Paul" in a email from a personal account. Here follows the screenshots of this interaction.

Here is the email sent when you apply for the forum

Here is Paul's email sent to me from a private email address.

Here is my someone indignant but honest response to me being asked for my private info.

And here is the official response from Trapperman.com

So..... Do you think Paul had to ask me this question on his personal email because asking me for private this private information was illegal?

Also have any of you had any kind of similar situations with this forum?
I truly just wanted to join the forum to learn more about trapping for this upcoming season. I have a ton of yotes and beavers that need to be removed, and I like the pelts... However I didn't realize if I didn't submit my private information I would have been singled out as an "anti" and not allowed to join the forum.
I understand you want to remove people who are trying to subvert the online trapping community, but any normal organization would just remove them afterwards and not run off new comers because they are scared of the "antis".
What a joke.

WoodsWalker. Nice set up you have there. I do like the Kydex Sheath, well done. I need to try my hand at a custom Kydex sheath for my Kukri but am thinking I should probably start on a neck neck knife or something smaller. The Kukri is big, and because of it's shape, I have read it is not the simplest of knives to make a sheath for. I have never made a sheath and recently have been reading the forums and watching youtube vids.

Having a bit of fun..
I will add to your list..

All those who spent over $100.00 on "several" axes raise your hand.

My hand is up

All those that spent over $1500.00 on a Davis Wall Tent for Deer hunting, raise your hand.

My hand is up

All those that have spent over $300.00 on "several" pair of hiking boots, hunting boots or work boots raise your hands

My hand is up

All those that just dropped $1500.00 on an Excalibur crossbow because you just had to have the newer model, raise your hand

My hand is up

All those that thought they NEEDED a 1985 Chevy Blazer M1009 CUCV (military edition) as a deer hunting vehicle raise your hand

My hand is up

My wife thinks all of the above are ridiculous purchases and unnecessary. I am sure others (possibly outside of this forum) may agree.

grin grin grin

Hey Woods Walker, very glad to see you back. It's unfortunate that internet drama brought you here. This thread should be dead already.

Great job with the little knife. It makes my hand cramp up just looking at it, but does look very functional for always having in your pack and not taking up any space.

I've followed your bow and drill skills on the other forum and am impressed, but have learned enough I think I'll have success when I try it. It's been 30yrs since I attempted, and all I made was lots of smoke.............so I was very close.
