I have one in 260. At first it did not shoot well.I removed the mag box thinking it may be the issue but it did not help. After playing with it I discovered adding a shim under the recoil lug the accuracy really improved. I plan on bedding the action and removing the shim

Hairtrigger, is your Seven actually one of the new ones made this year? I keep hearing tidbits here and there that they have made a run of them but Remington's website says absolutely nothing about them and none of the dealers I use know anything about when they will show up.

About 3 months ago, I lucked into a 1998 built SS .308 that had no more than 20-25 rounds thru it. It looked NIB and of course no J-lock, no "X-Mark Poor" trigger. I put it into a new B&C AWR stock and added a VX2 2-7x33 in Talley ex-lows. Previous owner had the trigger smoothed to a crisp 3 lbs. My first inclination was to have Douglas rebarrel it to 7MM08 since right now I'm .308 poor but after taking it out once and using nothing but Hornaday Am. Whitetail 150s, it shot 2 three shot groups at .78 and .83" after sighting in and settling down. Way adequate for a tree stand whitetail rig. Now that I've pretty much decided to leave this one alone, I'd really like to hear some feedback or better yet, get my hands on a new one as a 7MM08 SS is on the agenda.

Probably the same stock that comes in the blued versions of the model seven. But I planned to replace the stock anyways none of remingtons stocks are really all that great just my opinion don't care for the sps style

I already have a SS 7mm08 and 308 but wanted to see how the new ones compared to them but LGS said he cant get any. The big suppliers (like Buds) pre ordered the majority of the first run of them.
$629 from Buds is not a bad price at all. In the last couple of years Ive seen used ones in SS sell for $700-775.
I wouldnt expect 223 or 260 out until next year. Remington rep said 7mm-08 and 308 were the most popular calibers so Id bet they run those for a while.

How about one in 300 WSM? Saw that listed in the new catalog.

I can't find a picture on the Web to see what the stock looks like Same here pre, all I can find on the Rem. site is the blued version. Not in the centerfire section, new products, or anywhere else. I don't have a paper catalog. John
