Is there something going on with H&R? They seem to be getting harder to find in my area.

Remington has killed them off. Last HR employee was let go. Barrel accessory program is a thing of the past.

Bud's Gunshop still has a goodly number in stock.

They don't want any competion for the sh*t $3.00 bolt guns they're trying to put up against the RAR. Not long ago they brought in all those Rusky guns, most of which, in addition to being uglier than HRC's a$$, were just plain crude looking. I hope they bring in somebody that understands the business before they run that fine old company completely into the dirt.

"Those Russian guns" were made by Baikal. Remington marketed them under the name of "Spartan". While seemingly crude to some they are basic good shooting guns. I do agree that Freedom Group seems to be running the company all wrong.

I know.
I've seen a couple Baikal combo guns on the used rack and they look solid, if a little rough in the finish department. The guns Remington sold looked like crap, even in the ads. The new cheapo bolt gun I saw in a LGS was so bad, I didn't even pick it up, and I pick up almost everything. The bolt handle looked like a licorice candy that someone stepped on.
The H&Rs were solid, and filled a definite niche and need for a lot of folks. Fortunately, there's probably enough of them out there to go around for a while. Used ones, especially the rifles, tend to be sold off as people upgrade. The shotguns are seen less often and I suspect folks hang on to them.
I guess I'm just an old grumpy guy, but any more at the LGS I just head for the used racks and pretty much skip the new stuff. I just haven't come around to the "disposable rifle" concept yet.
