I'm just waiting for Ian to send the signed contract back but I'm booked for 8 days of free range hunting in Kwa Zulu Natal starting in late April with Venture South Safaris.
I'm targeting Nyala and bushbuck and going to be bringing the trusty Model 70 in 375 H&H.

Frank you should have a great time hunting in KZN.
is that not just a little early in the season for Nyala as the trees will have a lot of leaves on at that time.

Congratulations. Natal is great for Nyala. Hardest part can be waiting when PH says "we can do better".

Unless it is the only rifle/caliber you have, I'd leave the 375 home. My god grand son shot his Nyala with a 308. An 06,308, plenty for them. Kudu easy to kill with the same round. God grandson, got 2 Impala, an Nyala, a black wildebeest and a zebra with the 308. I got a Waterbuck, Impala, warthog and Kudu, with the 308. I have a friend who's a retired PH and he said they used to tell folks, leave the 375 home unless you intend to hunt dangerous game. Just my 2 cents worth but been there a few times, and took 18 head of game with a 280 a few years back, using 140gr TTSX bullets. 7 Oryx which are supposed to be "tough", but the 5 I shot with the 280 all drt. GGS used 130gr TTSX bullets in his 308, to take his stuff with.

Congratulations on your upcoming safari.
As far as a rifle goes, I would take whatever you like and feel comfortable with. You may not NEED a 375 H&H but you may WANT the 375 H&H.
There is a great deal to be said about the anticipation and preparation for going to Africa and carrying and shooting the rifle of your choice is part of it.

If you like your 375, I'd take it with no regrets. It'll kill your game just fine. I bought a Ruger RSM in 375 in 2012 (100 years after the cartridge was developed) just so I could take a classic to Africa. I did and I loved it. I shot a wart hog at 20 yards, blackbuck, impala, eland, and nyala. Now I have wonderful memories of using a classic rifle on a wonderful African adventure. Plus, I'd rather have more than enough rifle for the game expected, rather than a marginal cartridge in the event of a shot around the edges of the animal. Hey, it happens to all of us sometimes. Plus, in Africa, if you draw blood you pay for the animal regardless of whether it is found or not.

Met a girl in a bar once named Nyala,(better than one named Warthog!) probably the closest I'll ever come.
Hope your trip is great.

Take your 375 with 260 Nosler Partitions. Mine talked loud over there in July.

If you go to accuratereloading.com, there are two reports there from guys who hunted that area and got Bushbuck and Nyala. Gives you an up on what it's about. Why are you only looking at two animals. should be able to do one a day so if 5 days, should be able to get several others too. Be looking at Kudu, etc.
