Been counting deer on trail cams and as of now there are two who've set up living quarters about 100 yards from my garden and two more not more than 150 yards in the opposite direction. There's four more that I don't know where they live and am not entirely sure they are still alive. All those but for one are antlerless. So, there should be 4-6 bucks anyway nearby too since I didn't kill any of them last year, and only does and fawns were killed on the roads as far as I know.

It'd be nice to take about 8-10 out of the section and get the population back down to what it can carry which I figure to be 4-6. If I can reduce them to that there's a chance that taking out 1-2/year I can keep up with infiltration and reproduction. There's an area a mile away that I often enough see two dozen or more in though, and I may be just wishful thinking that I can whittle them down.
Miles will have his freezer full before most of us even buy our tags. You can bank on it.

I'll be carrying my .243 Savage Axis as per my heart doctor's orders. Waiting in the wings will be my Marlin .44 Mag. Should I develop a case of wanderlust and head into the slug zones, my little Mossberg 20 gauge stands at the ready. Hoping to have one down with a as yet to be purchased crossbow locally early in the season. Got to get my son's wedding out of the way first, and then go get a bow.

Where did you find 150gr 270 BTSPs by Hornady? Don't see them on Hornady's website.

Opening morning here in Minnesota it will be a Remington 722 in .300 Savage shooting 150 grain Horns over H4895. After opening morning, whatever suits my fancy....

On the South Dakota West River opener it will be with a 1-8 twist .220 Swift. Haven't decided yet on the bullet I will be using....
