Handled a TC rifle in 250-3000 Ackley Improved recently and it looked like a factory barrel. Had a friend tell me that at one time TC would chamber pretty much anything you requested. Any input? Regards, Jericho.

At one time you could order from the T/C custom shop and select from about 90 cartridge choices. You could also choose barrel length, contour and finish. The prices on their barrels were only about fifty dollars more than their standard barrels.
I kind of went on an Encore barrel spree. Two I liked very much were chambered in 6.5x55 and 300 H&H. When I realized that because of Miss. primitive weapon season the only barrels I was using were chambered in 35 Whelen I kept them and sold the rest.
During the early 2000s Midway ordered and kept a supply of custom caliber barrels in stock.

T/C Custom would produce just about anything a hunter would want when T/C owned the company but since S&W bought Thompson Center much of the innovation and support for the single shot line has ended. I wouldn't buy a S&W produced gun or barrel. MGM (Match Grade Machine) is a good source for quality barrels.
