A friend of mine is looking for a 28ga O/U, he'd like to find a Ruger but is having trouble locating one in his price range (around $1000). He's found a Verona 501 that might do at least for now-I'm wondering are they built on a true 28ga frame and any opinions on the gun it's self? Another friend puts the quality at "Good +". Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

the Verona was imported by BC Outdoors back some years ago for several of the large sporting goods store. it is made by FAIR and is an I Rizini gun. after BC Outdoors went belly up, Savage imported the gun as their Millano. i had one for a number of years and they are a very well made shotgun at a bargain of a price. mine was in 12 ga but in as i recall the 20 ga and under models did have a smaller frame. you can find out all you need about them over on shotgunworld. there is a gunsmith that specialized on them for BC outdoors by the name of Bazil Slaughter or something like that. if i could find a model 503 in twenty ga which was made for Gander mountain i would be in heaven. it had a coin finish receiver and some gold in lade pheasants that looked really nice. back when they were imported you could get them for around 550.00 or so. theyve gone up since then. they also offered some two barrel sets in 20 ga and 28 ga but they were not cheap.
Help keep our sport going. take a kid outdoors!

Thank you Jim. My friend found a CZ at a good price, I know he wanted a smaller frame gun. I remembered the Verona's being similar to the Valmet's, maybe not as sleek. I appreciate the info.

http://www.fair.it/eng/fucile_slx_gold.jspFair makes a super nice gun and I have the one in the link above, purchased it used at a great price, brand new it cost just over $2000 in american money, depending on euro to american dollar conversion. Awesome gun and if you need Basil Slaughter to do anything he is great. Had a local idiot (supposed to be a gunsmith) look at an issue with it and just say it was a horrible experience. Sent it to Basil and never an issue after that. Super nice guy and does great work.
