Trump has high praise for a single-payer health care system (which is what Socialist Bernie Sanders and the Dems want---O-care was just intended to grease the skids in that direction).

The article from the Weekly Standard also references a poll showing Trump's supporters aren't all that conservative and what they like about Trump is his brash demeanor!

The Weekly Standard is Neocon Central. The more they dump on Trump, the more confident I feel about him.

I've learned to listen to what people actually say and do themselves rather than what others, especially their opponents say about them. I'll let The Donald explain his own position.

As someone who benefitted most of his life from health care earned tax-free from my employer, I understand that it was, in effect, subsidized partially by the tax code. That benefit could have easily been passed on to everyone by a simple change to the tax code. What we got instead was a situation where the entire productive population ends up paying for the insurance of the rest of the county through higher premiums and taxes on stuff not even related to health care. Way to go O!

Bristoe, I feel badly for anyone who is as challenged with simple logic as you clearly are. That the Weekly Standard published Trump's many quotes favcring single-payer health care is no evidence whatsoever that Trump did not speak those quotes; it is no evidence whatsoever that Trump does not believe what he said or mean what he said. The facts are simple and they are this: Trump has repeatedly, over the years, stated that he favors a Canadian style-single payer health care system. Some neo-con organ did not put those words in Trump's mouth, Trump put those words in his own mouth. It is also indubitably true that the far-left wants a single-payer system.

There is good reason to believe that complexities and flaws were intentionally built into O-care on the assumption that when O-care began to collapse of its own weight (which it surely will do) that it would make the ultimate goal of single-payer health care more easily attainable. Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the only candidates in the field who have ever stated support for a single-payer, socialized health care system.

Complaining that the Weekly Standard is the who published Trump's quotes does not make the fact that Trump said what he said any less true.

Trump isn't advocating single payer today. Here's what he said:

Well, for practical purposes in this election, there are only two political parties: Republican and Democrat. Since you are a evident critic of the Republican Party and since you apparently support for president a former Democrat and inveterate Clinton supporter who favors socialized medicine, may we presume you are a Demonrat? grin I see no other logical conclusion.

Yes. What has changed since Trump praised the Canadian system (what, a few years ago?) that make single-payer health care (which Trump has favored) unworkable today? Only the sychophantic (and the gullible who perhaps actually favor a RINO?) would let a candidate (a former Demonrat no less!) off that easy on repeated statements so antithetical to conservative, limited government principles.

Why does Trump want to give legal status to illegals? He has favored amnesty. Fiornia has been very clear: she does not favor a pathway to citizenship for people who have come here illegally. Trump does favor such a pathway. BTW Fiorina was harping (no pun intended grin) on illegal immigration years before Trump ever took up the issue.

What age would that have been? 5 years ago, 10, or 15 years ago? When?

Trump has knocked the dust off of a whole lotta people who are now paying attention to what is happening. If only a handful catch a glimpse of the underhanded, criminal and completely disgusting activities of the current administration, Trump has accomplished what the GOP has failed miserably to do for two terms now.

Trump is playing the tune and now even the media is dancing to it. Role reversal is evidently very painful for a select group of talking heads and I don't think some of those calling the shots for so long, take kindly to someone stealing the leverage they have been working so hard on.

People can hate on Trump all they want and no doubt they will, but the truth is he is stirring the pot and shaking some trees with hornet nest in them. He is doing exactly what this country needs and something the right could not accomplish and something the left has feared for a while now. Even if the man never gets elected, he has done a tremendous amount of good for this nation just by waking people up.

For the most part, I agree with this. The fact that he has driven Jeb Bush into the political wilderness is huge. The issue however is whether at some point a Trump candidacy hurts the change to elect a conservative Republican more than it helps. Time will tell.
