I am looking for an ss 1-8 lightweight or pencil profile barrel, probably 18" max, who would you recommend?

This rifle will be a flat top, scoped, JP carbon fiber handguard, Rogers stock, no back up sights.

A true pencil barrel in 18" would be a custom job.

Noveske makes a lighter 18" SS barrel but it's 1/7, Larue makes a lighter 1/8 18" PredatAR barrel but I haven't enough rounds down my 16" yet to make a solid recommendation. For $500 I'd probably go custom.

Rainier Arms might have something too.

I have a 16.5" rifle gas barrel from VooDoo Innovations. Weighs in at 21 oz, melonite finish. It has been a champ. Faxon barrels are getting a lot of talk in the 3 gun boards. They make a lightweight.

LOL, no my Noveske 16" "light weight" weighs 30 oz but that does include the gas block. It should be called lighter weight as in lighter than an hbar.

I have one of those and HIGHLY recommend them. Very accurate and easy to clean.

Black Hole Weaponry does a exellent light weight barrel. They do a contour for me called a "Hammer Flare". My 16" , 8 twist , .264 LBC barrels weigh in at 1lb 9.7oz and shoot well enough for what I wanted them for, a light weight hunting carbine.

I am building a light weight carbine...I ordered the 16"Faxon 1-8 pencil QPQ nitride Barrel that weighs a wopping 19.04 OZ... I have read good things about them and there customer service is top notch. The rifle should weigh in at 5.5 lbs...I could go a little lighter on the butt stock and shave a few more oz. I originally wanted Stainless until I read about QPQ Nitride and the accuracy they are getting with these Barrels.
