I made a quick trip this am to the gunsmith to ok the checkering layout on a custom stocked Fox 16ga and I bought an older Redfield 2-7x wide angle scope to put on my M70 300 Savage that had rings on it but the screws were buggered and I didn't want those rings anyway.
He has had a STD 270 there for sale for a while with excellent metal and blue but the biggest POS stock I've ever seen. The owner of the gun claimed it was a special order with no checkering. Well in he walked and both the smith and I told him the stock was a POS. I made him a cash offer and told him he could keep the stock but I'd keep an original stock that the smith had fitted with a pad. he also brought in the sweetest FWT 243 in mint condition, MC stock and the plastic but plate so that came home also.
I will NEVER pass a 12 step program if it involves guns esp Pre 64 Winchesters.
