I'll assume that's directed at me....

The engine (4 banger) and transmission are horribly mismatched. Cruise is unuseable in the mountains because the transmission hunts for a gear continuously.

Crappy fuel economy compared to the small Tacos. Can't take the rear seats out anymore to make for storage area behind the front seats. Ride is mediocre.

IF any other maker had any kind of offering that promised somewhat similar reliability, I'd be on it like white on rice. That's from a guy that took a Taco to 360,000 miles........

Yes, it was directed at you. Thanks for Answering. I'd like one, and want one. However, It's not big enough for my use. And I'm always pulling something. Rarely heavy, but always something.

Not to hijack your thread, but I can tell you why I hated the two I owned. Had a 1997 extended cab TRD. Rode like a brick and was hard to start. Had a 2013. Hated it so much I got another new truck the same year, the 2013 Super Duty mentioned above. What did I not like? The smog pump noise, the 6 hour noise (with the vehicle shut off), the polymer bed with the angled front rail that when I put a $1500 Leer cap on leaked water into the bed when it rained. No, it was not the cap, it's the way the truck bed is made. Google the smog pump noise and six hour noise or go to the Tacoma forums and you will see. Why this truck has such a cult-like following is beyond me-it's a POS. Oh, and that great mileage? I got 18 mpg with the Taco IF I used premium fuel. My Super Duty gets 18 mpg.
Oh and the electronics are crap, the tailgate does not lock (but you can fix it with a hose clamp)....
