So I got the chance to put my new fillet knife to use today. Its a Joel Clark fillet I just received as a gift.
Guess I will give a little background on how this one came about, so please bear with me. Last year I invited my good friend and fellow campfire member Darren up to go salmon fishing. We have a fall salmon season in the lower Columbia River every August/September where one of the boundaries is a buoy, in this case the boundary is Buoy 10, and most refer to this area as Buoy 10 season.
Darren and his son came up last August and we had a great time, caught some nice salmon and just had fun. Its now going to be an annual event for us.
I guess while we where fishing I probably spent more time reminiscing about my dad Sig. I lost my dad on December 6, 2013 so this was my first year fishing without him. And I'll admit it was a tough time for me, we never ever missed a Buoy 10 season and it was his favorite thing to do.
So Darren being the gentleman he is got in touch with Joel and came up with this pattern and named it "Sig's Buoy 10"
I got to use it today, on a chinook which was Sig's favorite. The knife is fabulous - Sig would be most impressed:)
Anyway, here is Sig from a few years ago, and his fillet knife from earlier today.
Thank you Darren & Joel.
