Hey, it is too early to snort and scrape. get dat outta yer heads! however, it isnt to early to eeeooow and eee-EEEEEEEEEEE-eeeeee chuckle chuckle chuckle. Elk season starts for me in 15 days! If anybody wants to hear my bugle call over the phone, I can accommodate!

But that is after Youth Day. That thing is consuming my life! I am at the point that I cannot wait until it is over. Weather looks good, so it will be an epic event.

Nice job on the stock Fluffy-the-wood-whisperer! Although something tells me there isnt 1 single grouse all that skeered of Gopher... eek

And to make my day, an audio ad just popped here on the campfire. In spanish. WTH?

With that much enthusiasm, you need to let those youngsters load for you! A valuable lesson for them, and pride for both of you when one of the magic bullets makes a kill.

I just finished prepping some .30-06 brass, only because the nephew and step-nephew didn't get around to it! ;-)

Let me know if you need anything. I have not blown myself up yet in 25 years of reloading. Not through lack of trying....

Seriously though, let me know.

I went and volunteered at Berettaman's Youth Outdoors Day today. Same job I had last year-loading muzzle loading shotguns for the demonstrator. Berettaman was expecting 1,000 kids today. I just got an e-mail from him and we had 1,391 kids through the gates! That's over a thousand kids who may have never experienced shooting a gun, or learning how to fish or trap if not for Berettaman's stellar efforts to make this all possible. Thanks for all you do B-man. Count me in for next year. It would be nice to see a few of our Minnesota brethren contact Berettaman and help out next year....

Awesome BM and Gopher. It sounds like year two was more successful than year 1.

My best little buddy and I pulled the card on a trail cam I blindly set up in early July. It was an area I found on aerial photos and topo maps. The map showed a swamp with but I couldn't see it on the photos.

I headed back there about 6 weeks ago to see what I could find. I did find the swamp and some high ground around it with a few trails. There were some old rubs that were at least a year or two old. I stuck the camera on a tree facing the heaviest trail and bugged out.

We would like to put it back in a few weeks but down by the swamp. All in all, there are 26 pictures of deer (all does) and one woof.

Thanks Gopher! It was a great event. I cant tell you how many kids shot for the first time in their life, but it was A LOT. Hundreds and hundreds of them. You can watch it on an upcoming episode of Ron Schara's Minnesota Bound. They came up and filmed it. I will try and post when it will be on.

First order of business is sending some kneemail for Ryan's friends.

Second order of business is taking a nap. Doggone it, I am tired!

Third order of business is getting ready fer the wapiti procurement process I will undertake shortly.

Volunteering at the Fair yesterday got me out of the "rut" so to speak. 92 degrees, not a lot of shade. Awesome time with the MN Warrior hockey guys helping kids try to shoot pucks from a sled-hockey sled at Military Appreciation Day in the heat.

Maybe next week, when it cools off again, I will get antsy again for opener, but the heat sure puts a damper on the excitement for me.

I am the old guy in the Remington hat and green polo shirt second from the right.

The other guys are all players also. Three of us in the picture are goalies. The guy on the left is s retired light colonel, but we forgive him......

The Warriors is a group of combat wounded, injured, or service related disabled veterans that use hockey as therapy. We are a not for profit, and have no paid staff. Almost 100% of our funds go to hockey related activities for the players like ice time and jerseys, as well as trips to disabled veteran tournaments and stuff like that.

I played against them in many charity games over the years , and they convinced me to turn in the paperwork and join them last season.

I am glad I did.
