Ordered one of these and it sits way too low. Can't even get my eye low enough to really use it. What's the fix? A replacement base? Is there something that will make it co-witness with the Troy flip up sights I have installed? Which make/model? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yep Larue, DD and several others make a base that is for the flat top. Aimpoint does too for that matter.

Thanks. Opinions on which is best? Do you have a model number on the Aimpoint replacement base I need?

Just ordered the Larue from their website. The one with the lever quick detach. Should be pretty cool.

I used the Larue lower 1/3rd co-witness mounts on all of my Aimpoints.

Love their mounts.

I have four 1st gen Daniel Defense micro dot risers and they are bullet proof

Can't say anything about the new bi-level Gen2......

I don't have any

Since the sights are flip up, I figured I might as well go full co witness.

I was like you at one time in the past, and then I found that I could acquire my sight faster if it was a tad higher and I found I could see the room better if my eye was a tad higher. It is not a rifle scope..

Co-witness will work but I liked the irons in the lower 1/3rd of the aimpoint window (the lower 1/3rd is a taller mount). It just gives a better heads up position and a clear sight picture.

But for folding sights, you will have no problems.

I started looking at Aimpoints again yesterday but went with another Leupold 1.5-5 for my Larue light weight gun. I just couldn't stand the 2lb. super chicken on a 6 lb. gun.

That makes sense. Is there an add on piece that I can get that will raise the perfect co witness base I have on order up to a lower 1/3 position? Or do I need a completely different base?

The new model Daniel Defense gives the user both witness options

Larue will swap it or refund it, if you ain't happy, Mark ain't happy.

But again with flip ups, you might like it as is.
